Hi guys, been debating with some people who are throwing me the "too old" argument. I listed several reasons for why his health is not an issue. They came back with his "mental" health for the age, and a competency issue (basically, he's a crazy nutty kook, in other terms).

Any suggestions aside from telling them to watch interviews and my assurance that he is as smart as a whip?

Thanks in advance.

Ask them if they have written any high quality books comparable to "Liberty Defined" lately.

I always point out that Nelson Mandela was 76 when he became president of South Africa... and he'd been IMPRISONED for YEARS. Then you can point out that Dr. Paul has been saying the exact same stuff since he was in his 40s.

His mental state is the same as it was 20-30 years ago. Look up some of the you tubes of speeches from the 80's and 90's. Nothing has changed.

This was exactly what I told them. They are just looking for excuses not to like him because the media told them not to. They started this after I hit them with his troop donation numbers and other foreign policy facts.

It's an uphill battle with the media against us. Keep up the good work. If every one of us recruits just 3 more voters, the nomination is ours.

He is probably healthier physically than all the other candidates.

Mentally, all the other candidates are complete psychopaths, not sure how they can defend the mental capability of the other candidates.

He's probably in better shape than most of us here. He could probably kick my ass in a bike ride and he's 54 years older than I am!

Just tell them they can keep making up new reasons to put down Ron Paul but the peaceful revolution is underway to change America. They can choose to be apart of truth or they can be apart of lies but if they really don't give a crap about Ron Paul, not to waste your time because you're here to talk to open people not closed-minded, paranoid, and unknowledgeable drones.

George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison were 57 years old when they became president. The average life expectancy in those days was around 40... The founders put the age requirement of "at least 35" in the constitution fully knowing this. To put it in modern terms, that's like requiring you to be 70 to be president.

By the time George Washington became president, he was suffering from so many physical ailments that he found it painful to move or sit. He seems to have been a decent president. Dr. Paul is much healthier than that and has access to superior medical technology.

Some additional food for thought:

The Framers of the U.S. Constitution set forth a number of reasons for requiring a minimum age for election to office, beliefs that are still held today. JAMES MADISON successfully argued that a minimum age of 30 should be required to serve in the U.S. Senate. He cited as his reason "the Senatorial trust," requiring a "stability of character" that could only be realized with age (Federalist No. 62).

I tell them about Ron Paul's challenge to the other candidates to a bike race in 100 degree heat and 100 percent humidity, and no one accepted his challenge. I've had good success with this argument.

ask them what ever happened to respecting elders who have wisdom and insight

He has challenged anyone who questions his age or health to go on a 20 mile bike ride with him.

Thanks for all the help you guys! I'm quite an introverted person but Ron has brought me out of my shell. I think I made a little progress. Here is one reply I got back...

"If it's Paul the Republican candidate vs. Obama, he will get my vote rather swiftly. If it's Paul as a third party candidate, he may, depending on the Republican candidate. In the primary, there's no chance I will vote for him. Best I can do at this point."

So, I feel like I got my foot in the door a little!!
