In Nebraska, there are competitive primaries in both the gubernatorial election and senate race. On the governor front, there is a two man race between Nebraska Attorney General and 2012 Senate candidate Jon Bruning and former COO of Ameritrade and 2006 senate nominee Pete Ricketts. Bruning has been endorsed by outgoing governor Dave Heineman and Omaha mayor Jean Stothert, while Ricketts has been endorsed by Paul Ryan, Sarah Palin, Ted Cruz, Scott Walker, and Mike Pence.
In the senate race, Ben Sasse, the President of Midland University, has a sizable lead over his two main competitors, President of Pinnacle Bank, Sid Dinsdale, and former Treasurer of Nebraska Shane Osborn. Sasse has been endorsed by Club for Growth, FreedomWorks, and Senate Conservatives Fund.
In West Virginia, former state GOP chairman and state senator Alex Mooney is seen as the favorite in the 2nd Congressional District. He has been endorsed by Madison Project, Senate Conservatives Fund, Tea Party Express, Republican Liberty Caucus, American Conservative Union, congressman Thomas Massie, and former congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul, among others.
