NC Liberty/Constitutional Candidates for the 2012 Elections

I am starting this thread to consolidate the list of liberty/constitutional-minded candidates for this year's elections (primary & general). If you know if anyone I missed, please post below and I'll add to the list. If I make any mistakes with the districts etc, please feel free to correct me. This will be a work in progress.

But first, how do you find your district?

Go to the NC Board of Elections, and look up your voter information. Once you pull up your information, you should see a link below which says 'My Districts', which should give you all the voter districts you are in.


Governor

Nice! I'll be sure to vote for Wright instead of McCrory (whose name has been mud ever since the arena controversy a few years back).

I'm still heartbroken that no Ron Paul Republican has yet decided to vie for the U.S. House seat Sue Myrick is abandoning in NC-9. This seat is ripe for the picking!!!

It's not ripe for the picking. There are now 11 candidates running for this seat, Robert Pittenger is self-funding his campaign to the tune of millions, and Myrick has endorsed Jim Pendergraph. There will certainly be a runoff, and the Liberty vote in Mecklenburg is simply not numerous enough to keep from getting swamped amid all of the establishment hacks scrabbling for the position. Our efforts here are better focused on Matthew Ridenhour, our National Ron Paul Delegate who's running for County Commission in a race he can actually win.

Adam is there a liberty candidate who can be pushed into the runoff as the establishment hacks cannibalize themselves? In a Charlotte Observer interview, Richard Lynch specifically said "I agree with Ron Paul" on foreign policy, and Steinberg and Schaffer have made some agreeable noises as well.

You are right that none of the moneybags boys (Pendergraph, Pittenger, Dulin, Peacock, Killian) will get close to 40%. But we need to have a dog in that hunt. I think it would be worth it to contact all the non-Chamber candidates and convince them to coalesce around a single Voice Of The People so that the runoff (where turnout will be < 1%) is winnable.

In the 9th, there is some quiet support for Killian here. He has been to Iraq and Afghanistan and understands how hard these multiple tours have been on families. He wants the troops home at an acceptable pace. He's also butted heads with Skip Stam in the legislature so he has seen how bad the "groupthink" can be in a legislative body.

Mozo is correct; Killian has shown himself to be open-minded, and after his tour in Iraq, publicly called for an end to that war and said we should not be over there.

Strangely enough, though, his campaign sent out an email today touting an endorsement by John McCain. That makes him a very hard sell in Liberty circles.

Anyone looked towards Greg Dority over Fern Shubert? He's admittedly pro-paul and pro-austrian economics.
I don't know much about Shubert, admittedly.

Greg Dority pissed off people in the 12th Congressional district when he parachuted in, and took the nomination away from a local candidate, by campaigning hard in just a few precincts of one county. I would suspect some hidden agendas with that guy.

I could see this, the guy is hardcore about getting his name out there, no matter what it takes.

These people may not all be liberty candidates, but they are the ones who I am voting for (and who I am advising others to vote for). If you have any suggestions as to a change, I would love to know!

Frank Roche's position on educating the students about economics is fine, but he isn't running for the school board, is he? What does a Treasurer got to do with teaching students economics? Also, what kind of economics is he advocating to teach? If it's Keynesian, then that's horrible.

On Roche, I have no idea what kind of economics he is advocating to teach. Some friends from down state like him, and I can't find a website for Steve Royal, so my vote goes to Roche. (Unless Royal happens to be a Paul/Liberty-esque candidate, in which case I'll vote for him.)

===EDIT=== Apparently Roche is pro-fed, anti-marijuana. Took him off. Royal was endorsed by the NC RLC, and I've spoken to him on the phone several times, and he is a pretty awesome Austrian economist-loving candidate. Royal has my vote!

Troxler--
While I'm not a farmer or anything, and the only time I've ever been under the "jurisdiction" of the Ag. Commissioner was at state fairs, I don't have anything against Troxler. Plus, people around here who do farm like him, so I figure thats enough for me. It's not like he is going to lose anyway.

McCall--
He seems pretty straight forward and to the point,

and he has a seemingly humorous side as well:

Have a More Accessible Insurance Department: Like many government agencies it can sometimes be difficult to get an actual person on the phone. The North Carolina Dept. of Insurance has more employees per capita than a majority of states - but like many government agencies it can sometimes be difficult to get an actual person on the phone. The taxpayers of NC deserve a responsive and efficient Insurance Department.

And from this article, he seems like he knows the insurance field pretty well.

===EDIT=== I saw a few posts from Mike Causey in the Forums. I've amended my original list to possibly include him, taking out McCall; hopefully he'll see this thread and introduce himself.

Finally, I don't really have that great of a reason for Alexander. He asked for my vote through Facebook, and up here in the Western part of the state, he seems to be the only candidate in that primary race that is known. Plus, I still may write in my former teacher in the General, but even if I don't, this race isn't that important to me.

As I said earlier, I'm open for changes here if someone knows a liberty candidate in the race.

Roche has a background in international finance and banking and is very pro-Fed. Of course, he took down his 2010 Congressional website to remove all of his pro-Fed writings.

Fortunately, there's still YouTube. Here Roche talks about his opposition to marijuana legalization and support for the Federal Reserve system:

Also, Fern Shubert should get the nod for State Auditor not only because she has a history of fighting corruption in both parties, but also because she's the most qualified candidate running, being a Certified Public Accountant with a background in forensic accounting.
