The paper claims to weigh the constituents of the district in their endorsements. IE, they endorsed Sue Myrick many times even though they didn't like her votes in Congress. Ridenhour is clearly more in alignment philosophically with these conservative leaning suburbs. Especially since his district encompasses precincts from which "establishment Republicans" have sprung forth for decades, dating well into the prior century.
I agree with NCGOPer_for_Paul that the paper gave a limp endorsement to Wayne Powers, who is unlikely to win an at-large county race, so that they could try and block someone they see as a "Tea Party radical" from taking a district seat, while still appearing "fair"
