Assuming the truth of your final statement - which is (at present) probably but not necessarily the case - they would presumably have taken that factor into account when making the decision to secede (or not).

Under Article IV Section 4 of the US Constitution, the Fedgov has a duty to protect each state from foreign invasion.

If it can not or will not do that basic, prime, function, then there is no purpose for the national government, it has become intolerable and should be dissolved.

The state of California isn't protesting a few thousand people in LA are.

That city has 4 million people and it's only a small minority protesting.

California has 40 million people. Its not that the USA doesn't support Los Angeles declaring secession. Its California that doesn't support that and won't allow it.

Can you imagine a bunch of people move into your state and declare secession and take over the government?

That would be an act of war.

They just want to cause riots and blame it on the president so they can terrorize people into voting for democrats.

The idea that if you don't like what the feds are doing then just secede seems ridiculous to me. That's like telling your wife "If you don't like me cheating, quit complaining. You can always get a divorce."

I think this is like free speech where the true test of free speech is when you allow speech you disagree with it. Allowing big pharma advertising is my litmus test for that by the way.

So the true test of state's rights is when you allow the state to do what is wants, even when you disagree with it.

Los Angeles is Mexican soil let's burn this city down if they dont stop deporting people while waving a Mexican flag isnt just speech I disagree with.

You're leaving out the key fact that the leaders of california don't think it's an invasion and don't want help.

Texas has banned abortions. Suppose gavin newsome is elected president in 2028 and the supreme court then forces abortion to be legal in all states. Texas refuses to obey citing states rights. Newsome sends in troops to force texas to make abortion legal. Are you ok with that?

The president is the president of the people in California.

Law enforcement has no logical justification in "anarcho - libertarian" philosophy certainly.
