I am seeing some activity that looks to me like we should be recording higher x-ray readings than we are. The actual x-ray readings I'm seeing are running pretty flat.

If you do have an solar flare or a Coronal Mass Ejection on the sun it puts out an X-ray burst and then if the blast is earth directed we may intercept it a few days later. It will then cause the KP Index to rise showing it hitting.

A couple of weeks ago someone was thinking something was about to happen and they ran a test up north creating an aurora. Maybe they are trying something new and are using the story as a cover if anything weird happens.

So if your into seeing the Aurora Borialis...

first you see the flare or Coronal Mass Ejection.

Then you see the x-rays hit.

Then about 36 hours or so (? It varies and I can't remember my window.) the KP Index will rise. The higher it goes the further south you may be able to see it.

Heard one of the local HAMs the other day mention a ginormous solar explosion. He said he was glad it had blown away from earth.
