NASA planning to fire at the Moon

Bombing the surface won't help. I've seen the movie Armageddon and found out that you have to drill a hole 800 feet in the surface and drop the bomb down there so it splits apart...otherwise it will destroy us all.

Also, spinning a space station creates gravity.

Also, never, ever go outside to check on the antennas.

wtf?!?!?

someone take away thier budget please!

they will NEVER learn

hell ive got 10 bucks...what can i blow up with that?

the moon.

idiots!

We've been kinds short on targets for bombing lately, so we had to start thinking outside the box. (or globe, as the case may be)

That's going to piss the aliens that live in the moon off!

Has Congress approved this act of aggression?

Did the EPA comment on possible hazards?

After the impact will there be 500,000 jobs on the moon in the next 12 months. No? Waste of money.

This really doesn't sound like a good idea to me. Wouldn't this change the ocean tides on Earth ? Geeee what if the missile misses the target or bounces off and returns to hit like N. Korea, Iran or Russia or ??? us ?

I guess 2012 what the Mayans and Nostradamus predicted .. I suppose we're well on our way.

So did they complete this mission yet ?

I just can't understand where the possibility of finding water makes this anywhere near acceptable. Why does it matter if the moon is capable of sustaining life at some point? If the Earth goes, the moon goes with it; that's pretty commonly understood. There's plenty of water on Earth for them to load up and take to the moon if they must!

George Norry had a segment on the other night about this. It will happen tomorrow morning at 7:30AM EST. The guy said that if you don't have a telescope you may be able to see it with a good pair of binoculars. They'll be targeting the South Pole. The reason NASA is giving is the water thing. He said the explosion will be the equivalent to a "car bomb in Iraq." Why bomb the moon?

So they can run a spectrometry through the cloud to see what particles the moon is made of.

I heard though that NASA has known there was water on the moon for decades and didn't want to make it known, India recently pushed them to it though.
