NASA announces 'No-Fly' zones on the moon

It looks like they want to try to keep everyone else away from the Apollo sites.... why does it matter? Everything that is left in space or floating on an object in space, if it is not continuously being used is space junk. Could a reason for keeping people away from Apollo sites be if those landing sites never existed..?

I really hope some private entity is able to send a robot there and look around those sights. It would be interesting for everybody to have another view so many years later.

It would be rather arrogant for NASA to claim some kind of right to parts of the moon. What next, will each country find it necessary to set up zones where they are allowed to land?

Hummm.... would the moon only belong to those with the ability to claim it? Can a robot substitute for a man when planting the flag for that country?

When the U.S. planted the U.S. Flag on the moon, was it to claim the entire moon, a part of it or just to leave a symbol of who visited?

The restriction list includes preventing future explorers from studying discarded food and abandoned astronaut faeces.
So... they're literally trying to stop people from studying frozen 40-year-old astronaut shit?
Seriously?

The restrictions are only suggestions and NASA can't dictate anything which is legally binding.... but I'm sure they can pass the names of Lunar X sponsors on to people who can make those corporations and the individuals who run them very, very miserable.

this is pretty stupid, and i hate to be the conspiracy theorist here, but i love how we can only send orbiters and robots to the moon 40 years AFTER landing on it and 40 years of technological advancements, and now were setting a no fly zone over the " landing sites " hmmmm suspicious imho, i hope they find no trace of evidence of lunar landing, and it starts a world wide panic, just as an up yours to the government!

NASA announces 'No-Fly' zones on the moon

Completely unnecessary and a total waste of taxpayers money.
We don't need to establish zones for this.....everyone already knows that flies can't live on the moon. :)

Seriously though, I don't know how we can enforce anything on the moon considering the fact that it seems that we can't afford to ever go back.

I guess that this video would show the land that is in question?

Odd....I noticed at the very end of the clip that there are no tire tracks leading to the final resting place of the rover.....

Well, they probably don't want anybody saying, "What's this shit?"

Edit: I imagine if somebody could manage to bring that stuff back, that shit would fetch a pretty penny.

i think i saw the tiretracks there much more faint then the foot steps .... which is odd

Their purpose is simply to monopolize space travel and exploration. If NASA can't go back to the moon (and they can't, because they suck and they're broke), then NOBODY can.

That's all this is. A power play. They'll wrap it in some cushy language about preservation of historical sites or something but it's just a bunch of bullshit. NASA was the worst way imaginable to enter the space age - with a government bureaucracy.
