Nancy Reagan, Former First Lady, Dies 94

Nancy Reagan never did anything to curtail anyone's liberty. She made a suggestion. If you want to blow that into the war on drugs, go right ahead. It was already going on well before Reagan took office, so maybe you might want to check those facts.

Unlike Michelle Obama, who has turned healthy eating into starving school children.

In the meantime, if you don't have something good to say, say nothing.

I've got something good to say.
The anti-drug rhetoric she was spouting was such obvious and abject bullshit, that here we are 30 years later having legal pot in some states.
When you're caught lying through your teeth about something, you end up with a president about 6 years later who smoked pot in college. And it snowballs from there.

She just died, pcosmar. You spewing your hatred isn't doing anything, but making this forum look like it's filled with a bunch of nasty people.

Yes she Died.. I read the news..

and then came here... and a thread on her demise was posted.

I responded to the thread.

Am I not allowed an opinion on an un-elected political leader?

You can suck the devils dick if you wish,, I choose not to..

Let the dead bury the dead.. let evil bury it's own.

and let the bodies hit the floor

+ rep for posting an awesome history . . . Mrs. Reagan didn't want him to run for the second term . . .
"and look what happened. I was wrong."

. . . and Carson brings up the astrology thing-y . . . after the assasination attempt.
(if she had followed the stars she could have prevented it story)
First Lady making decisions based on astrology . . . Carson : "It sure hit the front pages didn't it ?"

Post WWII America . . .
After passing a screen test she moved to California and signed a seven-year contract with Metro Goldman Mayer Studios (MGM) in 1949;

The vitriol in this thread baffles me.

The war on drugs is a pretty peripheral issue.

NO,, it is not.
It is intimately tie into both the growth of the Police State, the corrupted Justice system, and the surveillance society,,

and at the and time the government declared war on it's own citizens,, it was buying and selling drugs for profit.. to fund illegal wars.

SO FUCK YES

it is a central issue.

The way I look at it, if there was a thread for Adolph Hitler's death, would such a sentiment of don't speak ill of the dead be expressed?

Of course, I'm not comparing Nancy Reagan to Hitler, but the fact that most people would argue that a discussion about Hitler could not be limited to a respectful discussion of the positive aspects of his life shows that our legacies follow us to our graves and beyond.

There is something to not speaking ill of the dead that should equally apply to not speaking ill of the living as well, but living or dead, speaking should always involve the truth whether good or bad.

Respect is key as well. There is a part of me that wants to tell Tod that the F-word is inapropriate, however if Glenn Beck died, I could not spare a number of 4 letter words for that scoundrel!

Nancy Reagan in a nutshell - War on Drugs, Say No to Drugs, let me dictate your morality. Not a legacy that has exactly earned the respect of her victims. I doubt many Jews would have too much of an issue saying something negative about Hitler when he died other than "yay". And yeah, fully agree with you about Glenn Beck.

An interesting annecdote concerning Nancy Reagan. :) https://thereaganwing.wordpress.com/2015/12/21/christmas-in-the-cold-war/

[The story was set in the wake of Nixon/Kissinger’s “Détente” and in the final days of Jimmy Carter’s “Peace Through Capitulation” when the Soviet Empire was still conquering and enslaving a new nation somewhere in the world, on average, every 287 days. This account was only circulated privately among friends, and never officially published while Reagan lived. Nancy will probably take it to her grave. ~ Ed.]
In December, 1980, newly elected but not yet inaugurated President, Ronald Reagan was invited to Moscow to meet unofficially (and eventually) with Gorbachev after he and Nancy were given a guided tour of the city and environs.

At that time every inch of the Soviet Union was as saturated with Marxist propaganda as the Democratic Party is today and Ron and Nancy’s tour guide, a man named Rudolf Filipov (remember that name), dispensed the Party line like a fountain. He began the tour (which was to span two days) by announcing that it “never rained” in the Soviet Union(!)

Every hint of “Xmas” decoration in the city was a celebration of the Communist People’s Paradise.

NO,, it is not.

A domestic issue that affected nearly everyone . . . (many kicked out of school, lost jobs, prison time, asset forfeiture, and worse)
in the end in 2016, in spite of the varying casualties along the way in all of us, three states have legal recreational and is it 23 states with medical marijuana (?)

National Portrait Gallery Honors Nancy Reagan; Funeral Is Friday

The era of Reagan Red began when her husband Ronald Reagan was inaugurated as the 40th U.S. president in 1981.

"Mrs. Reagan's ensemble that day was in that particular shade of scarlet that would from that moment on be known as Reagan Red," Town & Country magazine reports.

Hah . . .

She began by interrupting their Marxist lecture, in an ordinary, audible, speaking voice, “It’s raining.”

Nancy Reagan would not be denied. For her next interruption, she was almost shouting. It’s RAIN!

Recognizing that an unfortunate incident was occurring, the Gipper stepped in deftly.
. . . the man who, over the next eight years, would effectively dismantle the Soviet expansionist war empire,
spoke the soft words that ended the conflict… but this time they were to his wife:
Rudolf the Red knows rain, dear.

Just passed maybe the biggest of federal facilities around here ( NOAA ) . . . flags at half-mast
