Seems Ralph Nader will make a third party run for prez in 2008. Wonder what this will do to the race for the White House?

Votes

It's "funny" how people just assume*....... that their votes, no matter who they vote for, will count..............

Never assume, it makes an..........

*ASS/U/ME

But, I will vote for Ron Paul..... I'm selfish, I am going to Vote for me.

Not sure what the point of him running is, its far too late, the media is wrapped around Obamamania, and McCain is going to get sweeped even with Nader. I don't think this generation of voters even know who Ralph Nader is or what he stands for, much less taking the time to turn off their T.V. and find out about him. Wasted money IMO.

Ohh they do. Nader's been planning to sweep the young vote for 20 years. :p

I was gung ho for Nader in 2000. Then again, I couldn't vote back then and knew nothing about the Constitution or libertarianism.

I'm lazy, does anyone have a link that shows how he's different than Dr. Paul?

Better yet, does any body have a link showing what his positions are?
I have looked at his site, and other than his hatred of corporations, I find nothing.
NO solutions.
No plan.
No anything.

The guy is an idiot.
He may be a consumer advocate, but has nothing for the problems facing this country.
Where does he stand on the Constitution?
Individual Liberty?
Taxes?
The Wars?
Personal liberty?
Welfare?
2nd amendment?
Jobs/employment?

Nothing but mud in the water.

A short history of Ralph Nader.

In 1960 Chevrolet introduced the Corvair. It had a swingarm rear suspension. This is a cheap independent suspension system like the Ford pickup I-Beam in which the wheel camber (angle) changes when the spring flexes. The problem with that is, it not only affects the contact of the tire tread with the ground, but in hard cornering the centrifugal force causes the swingarm to try to lift the vehicle. Of course, in hard cornering you want the center of gravity low, and lifting the vehicle makes the center of gravity high.

Volkswagens also had swingarms at the time, and certain other imports, but no one tried to push any of these around a corner at speed. The Corvair, on the other hand, had an engine half again as big as the Bug, and GM was actually advertising it as a fast, sporty car. Several people tried to take corners at speed and wound up dead. GM, of course, disavowed all responsibility.

Ralph stood up to GM. This was kind of a new idea at the time. People just assumed it was too massive and powerful to take on. Nader stirred up public opinion, nearly eliminated Corvair sales (even after GM fixed the problem in '65, it didn't sell) and initiated lawsuits. Most people said it couldn't be done, but he did it. And along the way, he discovered that he could make a very nice living tapping into people's disgust at being screwed by corporations.

Since then, he's been trying to keep his momentum in that department and his reputation as a truly magnanimous crusader alive. In this, he has had mixed success, as his motives haven't always been magnanimous and this has showed.

I won't be voting for him for president, thank you.

Nader does one thing for the neocons. He paints a little fuzzier picture. 3 candidates is much better than 2 for the diebold machines. This way they can filter as many away from whoever the nominees are and put them into naders count to make whatever difference they want.

another staged election. enforced by the voting machines and corrupt officials everywhere.

I voted Nader in 2000 and may consider voting for him again.

Actually I think the timing of Nader's run is interesting. I think he was waiting until it was clear Paul wasn't going to get the nomination.

I will still continue to support Paul's run for President or Congress but I might also give support for Nader.

WHY ??

I don't like any of the nominees and Ron Paul seems most likely to go back to congress. So I'm looking elsewhere for a candidate I like better then McCain or Obama/Clinton.

Ralph Nader is against the Iraq War, Corporate Corruption, and NAFTA. Also I think he would bring a different approach to foreign policy especially with the middle east.

It is also unlikely him or any third party/indy candidate will win but I would still support him because he could bring more attention to more important issues if he manages to participate in the debates leading up to November.

Nader

Has been fighting this corrupt system for over 40 years. you people don't have a clue, by the time you get it you will be dead.
