My thoughts from the CNN SC Debate

This, among other things, is why Ron Paul needs more women supporters. How many of us can project a pitch that shrill from the back of a packed auditorium?

Certainly not me. It'd probably sound like a bear was getting mauled if I attempted that.

*SNIP*
I attended the debate last night in South Carolina and I wanted to share some thoughts.

I was also proud though as myself and the other Ron Paul supporters actually changed the course of the debate. We were quiet and respectful most of the time... until the issue of tax returns came along. As Mittens was duking it out about tax returns for about 20 minutes or whatever, toward the end, a lot ofus were boo'ing and saying "Get on with it! Move on!" etc. Then they talked about Abortion and they attempted to skip Dr. Paul and we ALL boo'ed and one girl even shouted "he's a freakin Doctor!!!" and John King, to his credit, actually went back to Dr. Paul on the issue.

You and the others who demanded truth are my heroes. + rep and more. Thank you for allowing the truth to be told and having the Dr.s back.

The Dr. can't do this by himself, and his reaction to those who had his back, and the excellent relaxed answer he gave was incredible. The guy reminded me of a rock star feeding off of audience participation at a concert. The people demanding truth are so important.

I am so proud to be associated with this movement.

:)

Tea party patriots flew people in from around the country. My local Indiana group had 3 or 4 go (and FWIW, I think those 3-4 support Dr Paul)
Yeah, I met Mark Meckler, who's the chairman of Tea Party Patriots group and there's very little of him being TEA PARTY. He bounces around the country in private jets funded by the silent/secret money masters and SuperPACs. Meckler announced a couple of weeks ago that he cannot support Ron Paul basically because, RP won't get on his knees and give Israel undivided US taxpayer cash and weapons, plus war with Iran and anyone brown skinned. He wouldn't admit on FOX NEWS and quite evasive answering true reason on TV, but that's what I'm hearing and some members of the Tea Party Patriots wanted the leaders out when they found out it's just another co-opted SHAM. Lawyer Meckler to this day still carted around the country and presented like a concerned protestor. He's a phony, like Dick Army, Tea Party Express, RESISTNET, Patriot Action Network, Breitbart, Pajama Network, on and on...

MR&M(Russo, Marsh, & Rogers), the big GOP market firm machine out of Sacramento, CA and they create the Kabuki Theater with the AustroTruf, Left/Right Entertainment, and then the funds come in to push the clueless into the directions the Money Masters desire, all under the impression of TEA PARTY revolution. OH, what a coincidence, Mark Meckler is out of Sacramento too! AND... just happened that Neil Cavuto and FOX NEWS CORP broadcasted the 1st Tax Day Tea Party protest out of Sacramento, CA. Imagine that...

SOURCE WATCH: http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Russo_Marsh_&_Rogers

At the Tax Day Tea Party protest, you see all these people congregate to media cameras, like Moths to a Street light, not really saying anything, just to be there. At one TP event in 2009, I was like, please get out of the way, I have messages to get on National TV. So many clueless and ignorant people in the Tea parties do whatever they are told. Very few know the reality and activism, the majority just follow whatever the TP leaders or televisions on the right tell them to do.

There aren't many women that can do that either. She has a gift, and she's using it for good! Hopefully she's part of her neighborhood watch...if she spots a scream, she can just shout it out to a police officer in a mile radius!
LOL! Thanks to all those that speak-up and continue the fight.

Anyhow, I also noticed a great deal of astro-turf: the "Tea Party Patriots." These people showed up in 5 busses and flooded into the auditorium. Most of them were seated down on the floor level, but some were also dispersed into the "normal seats." The reason that I call them astroturf is because I didn't recognize a single one of those people, and I've been to many of the local tea party events. We have around this area the Summerville 9/12, the Lowcountry GOP Breakfast, the Charleston TEA Party, the Charleston 9/12, the Campaign for Liberty, and several other groups that I'm probably leaving out. I've been to many meetings with the various groups. I didn't recognize ANYONE with the "Tea Party Patriots."

Additionally, my Mom is a leader of one of the larger TEA party groups in another county here in SC. I asked her and none of her people were here for the debate. They were all in Myrtle Beach last weekend for the SC TEA Party conference.

Finally, I was chatting with some of the people around me, and two of them said they had been flown in from Washington State by the "TEA party patriots", all expenses paid, to do "training" for the weekend. Training for what? I don't know, CNN came back from commercial and the conversation was interrupted.

Anyhow, as a conservative from South Carolina, I was surrounded by a bunch of people and there were a bunch of people at the debate who just made me very uncomfortable. I didn't feel like there were many "average" people there.

The other group that was there though was obviously the Ron Paul people. You could tell because either they were wearing military attire or they were college kids. They were dressed to the 9's by the way and represented very well.

My moment of pride and accomplishment was short-lived though as I overheard people around me making snide remarks and grumbling about the "crazy Ron Paul" supporters. The astroturfers I had talked to earlier said to each other "they're just so rude." Yeah, right, because not asking the Doctor about abortion isn't rude, but forcing CNN to give equal time is rude, somehow...

Some very good points are made in this observation. The most notable being few normal or average people in attendence. That has to change, RP supporters must come out and attend such debates and events if they want their message or view point heard. Stacking the audience is one of the oldest political tricks, to counter it you must have supporters in attendence who are not afraid to voice their disapproval. Another benefit of having supporters in attendence is the ability to let local or state GOP officials know they are being watched and their jobs could be next.

A liberal-ish colleague came up to me after work tonight and asked me if I watched the debate. I said, of course, and then he asked me if I saw when someone said "He's a DOCTOR" when they wouldn't let him answer the abortion question. The man gets tickled over the disgusting treatment of Ron by the media (not tickled HAPPY, but he finds it unbelievable). I then asked him if he watched the Fox debate from last Monday and he said no. I told him the audience was pre-screened and that they actually BOOED the GOLDEN RULE. He said, and the funny thing is, all these warmongers call themselves CHRISTIANS. I told him that I found it disgusting.

What did that consist of? Did they encourage cheering? Booing? Did they have an "applause" light?
They asked us all to be "civil" and to respect the candidates. Then he proceded to lead clapping and stopping and sitting and standing and clapping on and off again for about 10 minutes like a DJ at a rap concert.

To CNN's credit, there wasn't an "applause" sign and the producer didn't direct the applause during the actual debate. He only directed it going into the commercial break and then out of the commercial break.

I was uncomfortable and generally disgusted the entire time I was around the debate. Outside and inside, the area was just crawling with parasites and astroturf. The parasites were all of the politicians and the media, who have a symbiotic relationship of trampling on the people for their own profit. There were local politicians there that I recognized and state and national level parasites and it just made my skin crawl. The GOP establishment in SC was out in full force. The people who preach about liberty and the Constitution but have absolutely no idea what either of them actually entail.

Of course, I guess I should have expected that, but I just didn't expect the physical revulsion that I would feel.

As to the events of the debate, before the debate Tim Scott and Nikki Haley got up to do some typical pep rally stuff. It disgusted me because Haley was introduced as a conservative leader when she's endorsed Mittens and proposed the largest budget in SC history.

Then the debate producer came on stage and trained everyone in the audience on how to clap and cheer. I was simply amazed watching people take this guy's commands.

As to what went on during the debate, well y'all already know about that. I was again disgusted at the reaction to Newt's answer in the opening of the debate. I felt like John King may have even intentionally set himself up there for the drama aspect of it, and to make Newt (the most liberal candidate) look better, but who knows. I just couldn't believe that all of these people who are supposedly pro-family to the extent that they want to ban gay marriage were cheering and rooting and hollering for a man that has now abandoned two women when they were stricken with bad health. He's cheated on both of them and even asked his ex-wife for an open marriage. None of that matters though, because ol' Newt attacked the liberal media, so all of the frothy Republicans just cheered and carried on. "Newt won the debate in the first 3 minutes" was the headline, and sadly it was accurate because the people went right along with him.

This is running on a little too much and I realize I'm being very negative and I apologize for that. I did think it was Dr. Paul's best performance so far and I did greatly enjoy talking to other supporters after the debate. I just really hope the people of SC aren't like the people in that building because if so, we're doomed. I don't mean just in this election, but in general. I guess that's the results of reconstruction though... who knows.

preserved for posterity, thank you SO MUCH FOR THE POST!! + rep!

I'm curious, how did people obtain tickets to the debate? Did you have to buy tickets or what?

I went onto the SRLC's website and purchased a day pass to their conference for $45, which got me on their invite list.

A lot of the Ron Paul people got in through connections with either the campaign or the local grassroots "Charleston for Ron Paul." I'm not sure what they did because I was out of town the entire week on a business trip. I didn't want to ask for a favor when I wasn't there working.
