My stump speech for tomorrow

BOOM.

Isn't there an AARP poll which had 77% of seniors saying that they would like to see our troops come home to save Social Security and Medicare.

This this this!

Make sure that you emphasize that as the result of a stronger defense and less provocative military policy.

The average voter couldn't care less about NDAA. If they did care about NDAA then they'd already be supporting Paul. Bringing NDAA up during a speech would just fly over their heads and wouldn't win over anyone.

I have to agree with this, which is also why I didn't go into inflation, monetary policy, or the Federal Reserve. I really like the idea of rewording the "as a veteran.." since it is ambiguous at first that I am talking about myself. And the part about not cutting social security, medicare, or veterans' benefits.

That!

+ "As a veteran I took an oath to the constitution and the protections it provides. Obama has just trampled over these protections in the NDAA... Paul is the ONLY candidate who has fought against this bill."

Maybe? What do you guys think?

Love it. "THE ONLY" would be a great refrain for a speech. There are a lot of "THE ONLY" phrases that apply to Paul and no one else in the race. And it reinforces that he's different, but still a true conservative because you hopefully already established that in your first main point.

Respectfully,

Replace your Army veteran and replace it with:

"As an Air Force veteran Ron Paul"

keep the information simple, easy to remeber and grasp like a sound bite.

"less government"
"eliminate Taxes and the IRS"
"protects life and liberties"

etc...HIT THE BUTTONS!

Great job, wish I could be there.

I think the most important thing to say because the media never does and the older folks need to hear it, is "Ron Paul's budget plan would balance the budget in three years without touching Social Security, medicare or veteran's benefits."

You might want to have a copy with you, for proof if asked.

My understanding is that caucusers trend older and certainly those who AREN'T there for Ron are likely to...
Maybe talk about deficit spending and printing money make people like the one in caucus poorer and that if it continues that there liberties will be diminished or something along those lines. Foreign policy is controversial especially when economy is much more important for this election and ron paul dominates it even more. Just an opinion.
How about,

Ron Paul's budget plan would balance the budget in three years without touching Social Security, medicare or veteran's benefits. And Dr. Paul's sound money proposals will protect the purchasing power of your benefits so that you are not robbed by inflation."

Disagree, people think Paul is weak on defense, to hear an Iraq war veteran supporting Paul will be huge for people.

I like that! Should especially touch with older people as they would know about this first hand.

that isn't the part that turns on the GOP generally, however, if they argue against his foreign policy you could point out that some of the excess military spending needed to be cut in order to balance the budget w/o cutting senior entitlements. If it comes up you could also mention that since he refused his congressional pension, thinking it immorally high, he has had to pay into social security just like them and has refered to thinking of it like a contract right.. But that would depend on how the conversation goes, of course.

A slight variation of,

"Ron Paul's budget plan would balance the budget in three years without touching Social Security, Medicare, or veteran's benefits. And Dr. Paul's sound money proposals will protect the purchasing power of your benefits so that you are not robbed by inflation."

would be,

"Ron Paul's budget plan would balance the budget in three years without touching Social Security, Medicare, or veteran's benefits. And Dr. Paul's sound money proposals will protect the purchasing power of your benefits and give you a fair return on your savings."

(It's true that social security benefits are indexed to official inflation figures, but those gov't stats are understated. The reference to a fair return on savings has to do with almost zero short term interest rates being less than the true inflation rate. I would hope most seniors could understand these 2 concepts, but maybe not.)

Fair enough, I guess the older voters are who we should be swaying!
