Two weeks ago my "Ron Paul 2012" bumper sticker was stolen, and last weekend I put another one on. But I noticed today after I took a walk that it had been stolen again!

Is there anything that I can do to prevent this from happening? Is there a paint safe acidic substance or something that will hurt the person who steals it?

Thanks

I'm not sure that is legal.

I feel for you, though, mine get stolen too. I take it yours, like mine, are on a magnet...

Install a camera at your house aimed at your vehicle at all times and I would also install one inside the vehicle and leave it on at all times..they are most likely gonna snatch it when its dark or no one is around.

Its not a magnet. They put a REAL effort into getting them off. Thankfully they are quality bumper stickers so they don't leave marks after peeling.

Isn't there a dye available for catching thieves? I recall someone saying he marked his lunch with something that colored the thief's hands. Not sure if it's true though.

that would likely be less problematic than burning them or something. I mean, banks use dye, don't they?

I never heard of anyone stealing a bumper sticker before. I highly doubt Ron Paul people did it. It must of been Romney or Obama supporters. They must really fear Ron Paul to go to all the effort to steal bumper stickers. Yes, we are Winning! We just got to keep it up!

That is pretty low, stealing someone's magnet. I sure hope Ron Paul people didn't do that. It might be wise to take the magnet off your car before going in a place, only leave in on while you are driving.

How about trying to catch the thief, and posting the video of the theft on youtube? If this is successful, it would make a great discredit campaign to romney supproters...

I assumed it was ANTI Ron Paul folks who didn't want his bumper stickers around overshadowing their candidate (if it is anyone but Obama, the only other bumper sticker I ever see), I can't imagine a supporter stealing one.

You could try some vegetable oil spray. It's clear, won't harm your car's paint, slippery and they'll get it all over their hands if they try and mess with it.

This technique works especially well with yard signs.

Get crappy quality bumper stickers, when they peel it off it'll leave some clear paintmarks and you can probably file for property damage

not exactly sure how the logistics of that would work, but its an idea :P

I'd definitely go with the camera idea...it's probably some punk kid or 40-year-old basement dweller, but it would be awesome on the off-chance that it turns out to be some sanctimonious local official in need of a smackdown. :p

Rig your car with fireworks controlled by remote ignition. That'll scare the hell out of them. Get it all on tape. Post on Youtube. Figure out who it is and print the youtube link on flyers and hand them out to your neighbors.

(Only do the last one if you're feeling very mischiveous.)

I have my 2008 bumper sticker and my 2012 bumper stickers on my truck.

I support the camera thing. Catching a thief who hates Ron Paul is worth the cost of the camera.
