This post is not specifically addressed to Liberty Eagle but to all the nay-sayers about Ron Paul's presence in DC on Saturday.

I got there at 12 PM and there were already a ton of people there. Everyone from the Answer Coalition to 9/11 Truth guys to Global Warming informers were there. Impeach.org said in an email to me that there were 100k people there but I don't know, it was definitely difficult to tell. I showed up with this homemade sign:

1) Impeach Bush
2) End the War
3) Elect Ron Paul

Why? Because this is my agenda. I'm not out here spreading RP's message just to get him elected because that won't actually do much. I believe strongly we must spread our unadulterated truth because if we don't we're just censoring ourselves just like politicians and will never affect real change. Nevertheless, my sign was VERY well received. Townhall will be Townhall, a bunch of neo-con, warmongering pricks - and nothing's going to change how they will depict Paulians. Even if 15-20 of us didn't show up, they probably would have photoshopped us in and said how crazy we were. Were the rest of those people at the rally crazies too? Should I not have showed up at all because I'm afraid somebody's going to paint me as a kool-aid drinking hippy? HELL NO. Townhall does not choose what stances I promote. I was out there to spread all worthy messages, not just the convenient ones. In fact, before we started marching, a 9/11 truth informer gave me his megaphone to alert the people about Northcom's martial law drill coming up and I was happy to do it - WITH MY RON PAUL SIGN IN HAND.

Before we started to march, dozens of people took pictures of my sign and I encouraged it. Why? Because the more we can associate Ron Paul the Republican with Ending the War, the better. When we marched I got the opportunity to speak with many people from all walks of life. I spoke with paulites, socialists, 80 year olds to 12 year olds, government officials, truthers, Webster Tarpley (that was an interesting one), and on and on. The constant theme between these people was that most of them didn't even know who Ron Paul was!

Liberty Eagle, I respect you A LOT and have learned a great deal from you. But how can you say that spreading the Ron Paul name to people who are so vehemently against the war, enough so that they would attend a rally, is a detrimental act just because some pundits are going to spin it? It just doesn't make any sense to me. Townhall readers are not our target market, the people at the rally WERE our target market. When we reached the capital, a RP supporter with a megaphone let me go off and we passed out hundreds of flyers in 10 minutes! You could say there was some interest...

There were a lot of pro-war people at the rally. Mostly they were just antagonizing us. They held signs from the Bush swipe file like, "Support our troops", "Safer since 9/11", "Support our president", "Stay the course", and my favorite "Hippies smell." I was really discouraged to relearn that people like this existed. Not everyone was hostile but most were and 95% of them didn't have any coherent argument for the war, only personal attacks. One girl kept making fun of my shoes, like that was some kind of way to discredit my stances (nike flyers?). The unfortunate truth is most of these people will not change. But I had the unique opportunity to talk with mothers on the other side of the gate who either had a son in the war or dead from the war or one of both. I was ASTONISHED to learn how pro-war they were, although I understand that they do not want their sons to die or fight in vain. I did my best to inform them that they are dying and fighting in vain right now and their stubbornness to see passed the lies was not helping the cause, only putting their family in danger. If I affected change in one person's opinion on the other side of the fence (literally speaking), then I believe I did a service to our troops, the Iraqi people, and the American people.

The biggest problem I saw with the rally was that there weren't ENOUGH Ron Paul supporters there. Even if you weren't promoting Ron Paul there, why didn't you show up? Aren't you against the war, the meaningless deaths, the out of control spending, and the threat against our liberties? Aren't you an American patriot enough to stand up to the President and insist that he cannot commit any crime he pleases and skate by? What are you really for? Are you for your own self interests that Ron Paul is supporting or are you for freedom, prosperity, and peace? Are you really going to sit by and let some people on a forum tell you not to support the things you believe in because it could potentially alienate already alienated voters? Is that how you affect REAL CHANGE?

Those who were there in support of Ron Paul realize what an opportunity it was for us and WE MISSED IT! But I did my best and I will do the same at the next End the war/Impeach Bush rally because of the tremendous exposure I provided to our target voters. I'll do the same thing at a 9/11 truth rally or any other rally where I can find voters who might be interested in hearing an honest politician speak, even if he doesn't directly support the positions of the rally. I thank all the Ron Paul supporters who showed up, even if they didn't promote Ron Paul at the rally.

Truth and fact supersede all. If some dude on Townhall wants to mock the thousands of people at the rally, let him. What he is saying is not truth or fact. Therefore, you shouldn't even be putting it out into space because it's irrelevant and will only further false propoganda. What is truth is that American citizens gave up their freedom by intentionally getting arrested trying to deliver a message to congressmen in a publicly owned building and thousand risked arrest in a die-in. Those are the people we should be talking about. I don't even care whether they vote for Ron Paul because we're already united in patriotism and that's the true cause here. Political elections are just a dog and pony show. No election will ever give us our freedom back. We will only get our liberties back if we TAKE them back - and that includes supporting and attending any rally that supports freedom, peace, truth, or love. Over and out.

Not me.

It's the story that should be reported.

(Note: I don't mean, "It's the story that should be reported instead of your report" but "It's the story that should be reported instead of the 'there were Ron Paul supporters in the crowd' stories.")

I agree. Our country is falling apart. Disgruntled democrats are a good group to target. 100,000 is huge. Its a shame there was not enough presence there.

how that didn't erupt into a full-scale riot is beyond me....I would be throwing haymakers

Guys, this is just one of the fights/conflicts that broke out. It was an intense scene with people who were passionate about their views. I see this picture as being more misleading than anything if you don't provide any context for it. The guy in army gear could be anybody and the guy scowling could be doing so for a multitude of reasons.

There is a story behind this that I am referring to, not just the photo in this thread.

Guy #1 loses son in war.
Guy #1 creates memorial for son, and displays it at antiwar protest.
Guy #2 yanks picture of son from memorial.
Guy #1 goes after guy #2 to retrieve picture.
Guy #1 takes down guy #2.
Guys #3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 attack guy #1.

Also known as American Eagles vs Carlos Arredondo.

Happy ending? Guy #8 (guy named Ramesh) was able to retrieve picture for guy #1.

It's the father of a fallen soldier, being kicked by pro-war veterans.

cowards like that deserve to have their necks broken right on the spot. These are the same mother f--kers who preach about how they "fought to defend your freedoms", yet they are always the first ones to jump on your ass as soon as you try to express that freedom. In my opinion, these guys are no better than the communists they claim to have fought against when they were in the service so many years ago, and deserve to be treated in the same way. Going to jail or getting fined for these actions is not punishment enough for people like this. They deserve nothing less than a traitors death.

Just my opinion.

This is why I dont show up at protests LOL. I would undoubtedly end up in prison every single time.

Quickmike, this is not something I would have expected to hear from your mouth (even though I know you might be kidding). First, can you not control yourself? Second, the only reason I didn't voluntary get arrested on Saturday is because I'm poor as shit and I couldn't afford to miss my flight. Stop being a pansy and making excuses about why you CAN'T do things. Get out there and fight. They can't arrest all of us.

On another note, we should all go the capitol and make citizens' arrests on the officers who did not allow us access to a publicly owned building to deliver a message to congressmen, which is a violation of the 1st amendment, freedom to protest. THEY are the ones who swore to uphold the constitution. THEY are the enemy combatants. THEY are the ones committing treason. Arrest THEM!

Great post. That's awesome you guys were able to get out there in front of so many people. Good job!!!!!

"Freedom! Yeah! Freedom to think like I think! Everyone else is wrong and should be dealt with accordingly!"
