My Mill is up and running!

I never read what you write but someone told me what you wrote. I told you once you are so full of bs I hope you never fall in my river or you would stain it 10 miles down. I still hold the same opinion.

Opinion, not insult - right?

My opinion is that you are a Scaredy Cat. I remember your remark about my tainting a river for ten miles. I didn't mention that one on account of its YOUR MOTHER WEARS ARMY BOOTS childishness. But since you are MORE than prepared to re-air the sentiment, let us go All In.

Meatwasp is an example of a libertarian with whom I have no wish to share community. None whatsoever.

Sooo, how ARE the drawbridge passwords to be determined? PATRIOT does not suffice.

BAD poster! No dot connecting!

Mills are interesting. Self-sufficiency is good.

Compatibility is really good.

I already live in a community. It is a dysfunctional one. A disconnected one. It is full of unconscious, alienated people. Someday soon it may be full of scared and hungry people - but wide awake. I don't intend to turn them away with a drawbridge. I intend to try and help them form a REAL community where we all work and trade and cooperate to defend the community at large. No passwords required. Any human being willing to live in peace with his fellows and work for his own living is welcome.

Don't worry Acala just two bored cats hissing at each other. Hee

Aye.

BUT, to establish a reality base for the faint of heart and queasy of stomach, in a scenario where new arrivals are more on the order of BAND OF MARAUDERS and are not havin' peaceableness, consciousness, work ethic, et al. but are bent, instead, upon pillaging and plundering the community, is the response to love them until they love themselves or to blow them to kingdom come?

Thieves and others who refuse to live in peace are ejected with whatever force is necessary.

EJECTED implies that they are already in your midst. It could be inferred that they have TURNED uncooperative or unethical, and that Bouncer Types will forcibly escort them to the exit. But there is no THERE there, at the exit - nowhere to go. Repeat Offenders & Incorrigibles, what of them?

What about on approach? Is there a judgment-read-that-discrimination process by which "Arrivals" are determined NOT to be coming in Goodwill and, if so, is there intent to prevent their arrival by FORCIBLY repelling them? Are there or are there not Types who, on approach, might be determined to be Enemy Combatants, engaged as such and, if possible, dispatched-in-the-manner-of-killed-or-be-killed?

NATURALLY, I do not imply that Acala's peaceable pod is taking on the United States Armed Forces. I dare say, when the United States Armed Forces, our Friends With Big Guns, are on your doorstep, it is because they have come to congratulate the community and to learn from it, whereupon you bust out the mesquite muffins. And everyone will live happily ever after.

Wow I that was a pretty intense statement. I am a little lost now.

People are free and easy about announcing likelihood of SHIT HITS THE FAN scenarios, yes? People ARE doing things like converting paper money into precious metals, and people ARE stocking up on Survival Supplies, are they not? Weapons, ammo, food, water, seeds, that sort of thing?

Surely, SURELY, no one here still has sufficiently virgin sensibilities as to imagine that in full-blown, wholesale calamity, Uncle Sam can provide protection for everyone simultaneously. What, like Santa Claus?

You are new here but anyone who has been around the block on a few message boards knows full well that the disparity of personalities and principles is . . . well, let's just say that disparity exists. In particular does disparity exist as to who submits in the face of force and who fights. In MY world, that there is whatcha call an Irreconcilable Difference.

Insofar as people have CHOICE as to which people they align with -- unless meddlesome politicians are involved to moralize and profiteer -- it makes sense to figger out where one's people are assembling or, failing that, to proactively ASSEMBLE one's people. To figger out who yer peeps is, people have to be HONEST. I would very much like NOT to invest my time, money, effort, energy and emotion in a community dominated by Peaceniks who, eschewing violence, in order to spare life and limb, are apt to surrender the whole kit and caboodle to the first band of Authentic Bad Asses.

Truth, like Life, is sometimes a brutal thing. I don't make the rules.

You hijacked my thread.

IMHO talking about the rules by which people are going to operate their imaginary defensive compounds is (with a few exceptions) nothing but mental masturbation and here is why:

1. Unless you have actually been on the receiving end of shots fired in anger, you don't have a clue what you are going to do when it really happens. You may just crap your pants and surrender. And that includes me, by the way. I am armed and I practice. But I shoot paper targets that don't shoot back. I have my own ideas about what I will do when someone shoots at me, but that is ALL they are - ideas - and that is all they will be until the thing actually happens, if ever. So talking about it - and busting other people's balls about their lack of bravado - is silly.

2. In a really ugly situation, unless you have water to drink, food to eat, or a large supply of something to trade for same, you aren't going to be worth s&*t for a fight after about two days. If you are thinking about fighting and not thinking about eating and drinking, your priorities are backwards. There is a good chance real fighting will never even be necessary, or will only be necessary sporadically. But see how long you can go without water. After three days you'll be begging to lap it out of a government toilet.

3. While the average criminal will be driven off with any credible show of force, organized bands of criminals (if such ever arise) will run you over. Only a community can defend against such a threat. And there are simply not going to be enough custom-made libertarian outposts to go around. So everyone needs to figure out how to get along in their existing community and make it work as a trading and mutual defense community. There will be plenty of time to figure out the niceties of rules of engagement. There is NOT much time to figure out and prepare to have something to drink and eat. AND to have a way to help your community to eat and drink. If you only have enough food for you, what will the people you rely on for mutual defense eat? Drawbridges and passwords are useless if you don't have a community. And WITH a community, you don't NEED drawbridges and passwords. But without food and water you will not have a community.

4. If you limit your community to only those who agree with you politically you will not have enough people to build a viable community. If you start out with an attitude of exclusion and hostility, you are likely to end up isolated and vulnerable and you will instigate hostility in return. If, instead, you start with an attitude of inclusion, peaceful trade, and cooperation within the community where you already live, you have a chance of reorganizing that community to survive and prosper in freedom. Teach freedom not hatred.

5. Your place in the market - especially in an underground economy - is based on what you can offer to OTHERS. The larger the class of "others" the more success you will have and the broader will be your community. Think about what you can do FOR your fellow human beings, how you can draw them into a mutually beneficial relationship with you, not how you can best exclude and alienate. Think about how you can help EVERYONE be successful in an underground free society. Because nothing creates bandits quite as effectively as leaving them no other choice.

Be a seed from which freedom and prosperity grows outward among your neighbors. :)

Awesome setup. Who manufactured the diesel engine in that?

Just wondering if I recognize the name cuz there is a Chinese equipment forum (mostly around jinma tractors) that has a ton of support. They could possibly recommend spare parts to stock up on. And they are a few dealers who import direct from china that could help with parts.

For starters DO NOT run the engine until you replace ALL fluids with US made.

Big deal on jinma tractors You should see some of the goo they put in them.

Dont know if your engine came with a manual but use 50/50 antifreeze (or is yours air cooled?) and not "clean river water" -- jinma tractor manuals say that. lol.

http://www.ctoa.net/

And if I know the chinese that engine should be a cake walk to work on. I hope I can afford to buy a jinma before the $ folds up.

I'm glad you asked because I love the name. The engine was made by the Golden Flying Fish Diesel Engine Company. China of course. It seems to be well-made. Standard German s195 design. I am trying to find another one to run my seed oil press. It came with some spare parts. It does have a manual but . . . well . . it is about what you would expect. Let's say it has some weak points. For example, I had to discover the integral alternator (or generator?) myself. No mention of it in the manual. I didn't know there WAS one until I found it by accident hidden behind the flywheel. At some point I will get out the meter and figure out how to hook it up.

I will be converting it to run on svo.

Why anti-freeze? I just use tap water and drain the hopper if it gets cold.

I didn't know they HAD clean river water in China.

I plan to replace the hopper cooling system with a closed system and a radiator. Water is too precious here to be boiling it away. Then I WILL use anti-freeze in the mix.

lol that is a funny name.

yeah chinese manuals suck (guess that goes without saying). But the case against tap water is over time the minerals and rust stick inside the cooling passages insulating it making it harder for heat to transfer from the steel to the water. Also antifreeze has corrosion inhibitors and good for water pump seals (ever notice how slippery antifreeze is?)

A limited use engine with hopper system? probably not a big thing to worry about honestly. Maybe using distilled water would stop the mineral deposits. and you don't have to worry about a water pump since you don't have one.

So if it were me (now knowing it is a hopper system) I would probably use tap water or if I felt bad distilled water.

What does the injector pump look like? how is it lubed? alot of chinese engines are lubed old school with a separate sump. I have see many pictures of trashed jinma pumps cuz of ppl not changing/checking the oil.

Chinese diesel engines and tractors remind me of a 1953 Farmall super MD we have. and much of the same designs and technology of the 1950's and 60's. Great IMO cuz you dont need a manual.. Just look at it and figure it out!

You might be interested in the Fairbanks Morse 6hp farm engine I just bought. I'm thinking of using it to power a generator. Once I get it restored, it should run nice and quiet so as not to disturb my beauty sleep.

Apparently EPA has put the breaks on importation of the Chinese stationary diesels. Bastards! So I am looking at Kubota. Have you an opinion?

what turds.. maybe try and find a used one?

Don't know as much about the japanese diesels other than I know they are more expensive. And I bet its safe say of higher quality.

I think yanmar makes stationary diesels too.

cool grab on the fairbanks.
