My Michigan voter registration story......

Little story to add to this...

A few months ago I told my father and stepmother about Ron Paul. Me and my brother both did. We talked all about how great he was and his voting record while my father kinda sat there, not saying much, not impressed. Casually looking for holes.

My Father is a registered democrat who has a very large network of friends.

Once he heard about Ron Paul's position of leaving things up to the states, he said he would never vote for Ron Paul. Flabbergasted I asked why. He said "states righters caused all of the racial problems, the separate but equal doctrine, and all sorts of other problems."

I tried to explain how Ron Paul could never vote like that, but he refused. Wouldn't even consider it.

Fast forward 4 months. I came by the house and found my father paying attention to Ron Paul's donation numbers(post 5th).
A few days later, my father sent an email out to everyone he knew:
"Since the politicans don't seem to get it (same old same old) I am
going to make a donation Dec. 16 to the Ron Paul campaign, the next
big fund raising event. The last one raised 4.2 million in one day. I
encourage everyone to do the same. I feel this is a vote for honesty,
forthrightness (no, I disagree with some of his positions) and a
return to some fundamentals that made our country great.

I feel that another multimillion dollar day will get even more
attention. I noticed in the last republican youtube debate, some of
them were espousing more of his stands. Do I believe them??? Will they
actually do what they say??? yeah, right.
Same for the democrats.......

I encourage you to forward this to all your friends.

Registered Democrat"

I never thought it could happen after his adamant refusal months before. But on the 16th, we both donated.

Piece by piece, person by person, this revolution is taking over. At the pace we are going, we really can win.

Um, I thought Michigan didn't have a Dem primary this year? Or something about only Clinton being on the ballot?

I hate to accuse the original poster of being a liar, but his story doesn't add up.

EDIT: Nevermind, it looks like my sources might be wrong...

As far as i'v heard Michigan is still holding a democratic primary as well. There was some of the candidates talking about at one time opting out of the Michigan primary because it was moved up. Hopefully they aren't as moronic as their policies and they understand that states like Iowa and New Hampshire really don't mean jack in any other world but the primary world. The demographics of those two states only represent the white vote basicly and neither of them have very many votes from the electoral college. Sorry if this statement offended and members here on the board from those two states, but damnit, Michigan is in bad trouble right now and we can't afford to not have a say in this election. Like it or not Michigan is still the manufacturing heartland of America and we deserve to be counted as much as anybody. We have more at risk from a bad economy continuing than any other state i can think of.

I love stories like this. They encourage everyone to work a little bit harder I believe.

Yeah.. I don't think Obama is on the Michigan ballot. Maybe the two Obama people didn't know. After seeing all the support for Ron Paul, maybe they will check off him instead.

Ron is just a rally point, he didn't ask for this, he was born for it.

Wow, i didn't know they actually withdrew. I hadn't even been paying attention to the Dems.

You know what this means? With Obama out of the picture his people are sure to vote for Ron Paul. People in Michigan HATE the Clintons due to NAFTA. the only logical choice for these people is Paul. This makes me even more excited.

As a fellow Michigan resident I am, thank you for sharing. There is very little to be excited about in Michigan these days. This is one of the more exctiging things I have heard regarding Michigan in along time.

I'm making the 2 hour drive home from college to vote for ron on Primary Day! yay!
