My letter to Fox and Friends

I just sent this to Fox and Friends after this Sunday's show.

On Sunday's show (7/22) you did two political stories. One about candidates' bumper stickers and one about candidates' on-line campaign's. In both stories you did not mention Ron Paul. Why are you and the rest of the MSM talking about all of the candidates except Ron Paul? there are several "second tier" candidates that are featured in news stories, but very little mention of Ron Paul. Dr. Paul has a large and growing following and a large internet presence. "We report, you decide" should be more than just a motto. Report about Ron Paul and let the viewers decide.

That film was a total letdown for me. Considering the nature of Fox, someone could do a lot more damage with a documentary about them.

Instead, this film dwells on total irrelevancies, like their use of the expression "some people say..." Is really the best you can do against Fox? Not impressed.

The Court held that Akre’s threat to report the station’s actions to the FCC did not deserve protection under Florida’s whistle blower statute, because Florida’s whistle blower law states that an employer must violate an adopted “law, rule, or regulation." In a stunningly narrow interpretation of FCC rules, the Florida Appeals court claimed that the FCC policy against falsification of the news does not rise to the level of a "law, rule, or regulation," it was simply a "policy." Therefore, it is up to the station whether or not it wants to report honestly.

During their appeal, FOX asserted that there are no written rules against distorting news in the media. They argued that, under the First Amendment, broadcasters have the right to lie or deliberately distort news reports on public airwaves. Fox attorneys did not dispute Akre’s claim that they pressured her to broadcast a false story, they simply maintained that it was their right to do so. After the appeal verdict WTVT general manager Bob Linger commented, “It’s vindication for WTVT, and we’re very pleased… It’s the case we’ve been making for two years. She never had a legal claim.”

Fox News fights in court for the right to distort the news. You think they'll respond to your letter asking them kindly not to?
