Hi. I haven't posted in a while, but I grounded my mom from the forums because she forgot my name.

I'm doing a paper on Ron for my English class and every time I tried to get at an article or video, I got a message that says

"Blocked for obscene, tasteless material."

I had no trouble looking up anything on Romney or Santorum. (Frothy is blocked, however).

Public Edumacation at it's finest.

Nate

Have you complained about it to the administrators?

my friends brother is the junior tech guy who just started working there he said he will give me the admin password to get through until he can get the senior guy to get them off the block list or as its called in our school the black list makes it seem like im searching for black market body parts.

GO UP TO THE SCHOOLBOARD, GET A BUNCH OF RON PAUL SUPPORTERS AND GO SHUT THEM DOWN!!! FORCE THEM TO LET YOU USE IT USING WHATEVER IS NECESSARY

yea I told my principal but he said there must be a reason they are blocked and i said why because its not bull like the rest of the politicians videos I may have a detention
coming up lol.

They shouldn't be censoring the internet in the first place, schools should have absolutely no authority to censor websites or material and say to your principal, it is the freedom of the internet that allows you to do this at school. I haven't checked if ron paul is blocked in this area yet but it really doesn't matter because in our speech and debate team, we can bring laptops and connect to our speech and debate wifi at anytime bypassing the school's firewall by using other proxy software, I forgot what it was called

What blocking software do they used? Did someone manually add "Ron Paul" to the censor list or is it a bigger problem that the people sell the software have it preloaded or in their latest update?

But don't they have a right to decide how their property is used? The computers are theirs, more or less. They can decide how they get used. They aren't depriving you of your rights as you can go use your own computer to look at whatever you want.

Have your mom talk to the school.
I second this idea, and would like to know the name of the school ... We could bombard the school district for you, and help remove this limitation, if you would like.

Well,
At least I'll write the school district about this, if you want ... Your choice.

Work arounds exist and have been suggested, but you shouldn't have to deal with this ... It violates academic freedom.

You grounded your mother? How does that work?!

well she was glowing unnaturally i havent eaten in a week and i have no clean underwear it was time. that and the random remarks of Are You shitting me and F*** you frothy coming from the computer room kept me up at night she will be back in due time dont worry

True ... It is their equipment.

I'd go above the school ... Straight to the district ... Have Mom file a formal complaint, claim academic freedom and threaten to seek damages for intentionally hampering ALL childrens ability to investigate the political process that IS this nation.

Im not sure I will ask the Tech guy as he is a friend of mine but he did say he would try and take them off block list so it may just be the sites the articles were on but the words getting blocked seemed to be ron paul because i could watch videos about romney on same political site
