My final conclusion on Sarah Palin

The battlecry of the ages:

Matanuska!

. . .said the libertarian. That was retarded.

By "wrong reasons" I guess you mean "different reasons" than you liked him for.

Though I have not completely "vetted" her yet, so far I like her for two reasons:

1. She doesn't want to take my guns.
2. She doesn't seem to toe the party line at the expense of principle.

Sound like anyone you know?

She doesn't want to legalize marijuana. Not even MEDICAL marijuana WTF. She wants to let people in pain SUFFER! How cruel.

What...??

"She doesn't seem to toe the party line at the expense of principle."

...and her principles are what exactly?

She is much closer to being a PaleoConic Extreme Christian Theocratic Totalitarian than a real Libertarian.

All weekend and yesterday I've been thinking about this VP pick. I love Sarah Palin. She's small government, fights corruption, etc. She's all that and then some. But, I finally come to this one simple question that explains everything.

If conservatives in congress have had NO influence on John McCain in all the years he's been a senator, what makes anyone believe a conservative vice president who is new to the national stage could have any influence whatsoever?

Baby Steps

You are one silly person. a ha ha ha

The difference is based on principle. Everybody is libertarian about something - this is especially true for Christian-conservative nutjobs like Palin. She doesn't want to take your guns, but that's about the only thing she presents a libertarian lean towards. What about her economic, foreign, and social policies that are absolutely part of the status quo?

Ron Paul was the guy that said even though he didn't like abortion, he would never agree with a federal ban on it. He was the guy that said even though he didn't like drugs or prostitution, he couldn't allow a federal ban on those things either. He was so principled that he saw through his own personal opinions in order to understand the greater truth: that if you take away one person's freedoms, then you start to take away everyone else's - including your own.

Palin is a walking talking nightmare - a caricature of her own stupid self and her own stupid unprincipled views. She says one thing, and does the opposite (banning sex education and birth control? Those things could have helped her white trash daughter!) Her politics are defined by the bible, and not The Constitution. Wasn't this precisely what Ron Paul feared of the new GOP?

She has no intention of having the government stay out of your private life. She wants to let you keep your guns because SHE is a gun toter. She wants to ban abortion federally because SHE doesn't like it. She wants to continue the war on terrorism because SHE is some backwards gay-fearing fear-mongering racist retard that likes the idea of Middle Eastern colonialism. Further, she appears to have very little knowledge of the Constitution, the role of government, the role of the executive branch, or even basic American history.

Palin is a Pawn to Pawn Others

That's a great question, and my answer to it is that Sarah Palin is just a means to an end for John McCain. She is the "carrot" used by McCain to hide his bundle of "sticks" that many conservatives (especially Christian ones) have been hurt by. I seriously doubt that Palin will change anything in Washington, D.C., except her presence will be a piece of eye candy for our executive officials in the White House. McCain's choice of Palin is simply a checkmate against the Democratic nominees, but even queens can be taken out of the game eventually.

Sarah Palin is the best hope I've seen since Ron Paul. One of the reasons I rarely come to this board anymore is because of all the craziness and hatred that is displayed.
Why would you call her daughter white trash? You don't even know her. Many teens have sex and get in trouble. If she were trash she would be killing the baby by having an abortion.
I will never understand the hatred towards Christians. The Bible teaches nothing but forgiveness, compasion and love.
Why does this make so many people angry?
Ron Paul is a good man but he can't get to the Whitehouse.
It is time to move on.
McCain is old. His health could fail at anytime.
Sarah Palin is the most representative of middle class America candidate I've seen in a long time.
I will vote for McCain/Palin to keep the Socialists (Obama/Biden) out of power.

Riddle me this.. what's black and white, and corrupt all over?

Sarah Palin is an inspiration to me. She went from mom to mayor to governor to VP pick. It gives me hope.

That said, I spent a couple of days defending her but I can't do it anymore. I think she's better than some of the others McCain could have picked, but I don't support her in this.

Her baby has Down's Syndrome, her teenage daughter is pregnant and her priority is the state of Alaska and now being the VP? It really sounds to me like she is too ambitious for her family's good. I really don't want to judge her but she's a mother and she obviously has kids that need her.

Nice reverse sexist spin! How about her husband? Perhaps he should... oh, never mind. You obviously think a woman's place is in the home.

Well, I think if you have kids your first priority should be them. If a mom has to work to make ends meet then she should work.

*Her 17 year old unmarried daughter is pregnant (again?).
What she got pregnant twice???

I must say i'm bemused at all the fuss about Bristol's unborn child. I'd rather talk about inflation of an economic kind. After all, every human being on the planet is a result of somebody's ejaculation, in her case - so what if it was..well..premature?

As for Palin, anyone who thinks God is guiding and pouring blessings all over the misplaced slaughter in Iraq is a raving lunatic in my book.

It's ridiculous how big of a deal people are making out of Palin's daughter being pregnant. I mean, it does ironically lampshade the way Palin's "abstinence-only" ideas about sex education simply don't work...but holding her daughter's personal choices against Palin is just guilt by association, and holding them against her daughter is simply malicious. Social stigma is one of the biggest reasons why pregnant teens get scared and decide to abort their babies in the first place. Palin's daughter may have made a mistake that will make her life a lot harder in the foreseeable future, but that doesn't make her in any way deserving of the scorn and contempt that some people are willing to direct at her (e.g. people calling her "white trash," etc.). If only adults were more loving and understanding of pregnant teens, I think we'd see a lot less abortions (not to mention a less vicious culture among teenage girls themselves).

It appears that Palin is more representative of the average American than most (or the average American idiot, depending on how you look at it), since she isn't quite as contradictory or "experienced" as most politicians. However, that still doesn't mean she has any concept of Constitutional principles or limited government, and talking the talk about government waste and spending doesn't exactly line up with her apparent record according to Kade. She might have that "down to Earth" appeal, but so will any average Jane you find on the streets. Furthermore, even if she were very principled, freedom-loving, economically savvy, or foreign policy savvy (none of which she seems to be), she still won't have any influence over McCain.

It's true that her inexperience can make her susceptible to outside influences and ideas (like us), and it would be better to have someone like that a step away from the Presidency than someone like Biden...but her inexperience will also make her susceptible to other outside influences and ideas like AIPAC, and it appears that they've already gotten to her first. I have no false hopes for her. Maybe McCain's already three feet under and sinking and Palin will get a shot at the Presidency if McCain wins...and maybe someone intelligent might be able to get through to her...but I'd much rather pin my hopes on a growing number of Americans expressing "no confidence" in either major candidate this election season.
