My fight against my town for Ron Paul 2012 lawn signs

How does the ordinance actually read?

Is it the boilerplate version, where campaign signage can only be displayed within one month of the election?

I think you'd be surprised how many municipalities have these ordinances.

Uppity City Council members with nothing better to do than pick on people, what a joke. Sadly it seems that most town council members are following this trend all over the country. Busybodies with no real reason for their sad existence in politics.

"Matt was finally issued a Summons from the Borough of Woodland Park for the heinous crime of “display of election signs prior to election date”."

You should tell them that if you don't display the signs before the election date, they don't do much good :)

They tried to do this to me, but when I called the guy who issued the warning, it was obvious he had no idea what the law actually said (I guess he figured everyone would just knuckle under). He got flustered and I never heard back from him.

I've had my RP signs up continuously since 2007.

I'd be scoping out your area and find other people with signs (regardless of candidate) and tell them theirs are in jeopardy and to sign a petition.

Nice avatar, I knew Beavis and Butthead were coming back, but I didn't think they'd be so old they'd need reading glasses.

Hell, I didn't know they could read.

Anyone think we can get the boys to endorse Ron Paul?

Quick research finds some precedent. Not only can you have your sign, you likely can sue the town,

<snip>The Court placed a high value on residential signs for First Amendment purposes. Consistent with that opinion, the courts have regularly invalidated durational restrictions on political signs on private property. Curry v. Prince George's County, Maryland, 22, F.Supp.2d 447 (D.Md. 1999) (durational limit for political signs on private property invalid); Dimas v. City of Warren, 939 F.Supp. 554 (E.D. Mich. 1996) (durational limit for political signs on private property invalid);<snip>

They wont let you have a sign? What about making your LAWN THE SIGN? :D

Or just put up a 2008 sign and he is displaying a sign AFTER ;)

I would put up a new sign that is 5 times bigger that says, "This sign represents my first amendment rights. I will never take it down." And connected to it, "vote Ron Paul".
