Just got done figuring up my taxes for fiscal year 2010 and I'm madder than hell. Can you believe how fucked up this country is to let the current taxation system continue??? I have to fucking pay the state for "social security" and what kind of fucking shit is that? ITS FUCKING INSOLVENT!

Seriously, about a third of my income has to go to the state!!! ITS LIKE PAYING OFF A FUCKING MAFIA!! THEY DO NOTHING FOR THE MONEY THEY JUST PUT A FUCKING GUN TO YOUR HEAD AND MAKE YOU PAY IT!!!

On top of all that, the money im paying in is going to pay someone elses social security, and bridges in fucking afghanistan!!

All I can say is I feel your pain. I just long for the day when most Americans feel it too so we can focus our political discourse on what really matters.

It's a lot more than 1/3 of your pay. Figure in property taxes, sales taxes, taxes built into the price of stuff you buy. More like 50-60, even 80% on some stuff and if you make a good chunk of money, goes to government in some form.

Do you work for someone and just get a simple W-2 at the end of the year, or are you self-employed? If the former, that sucks, if the later, then there are plenty of loopholes built in for smart people to take advantage of.

trey, I pay even more and I'm young and will of course never see a dime in medicare/ss etc.

Wish I could have used that tax money to buy silver.

33% is fairly low compared to a lot of people when you add SS/state income tax/fed tax together.

I'm self employed, and I run a Search Engine Marketing business.

I've figured.....

13% overall tax rate for Fed. Income tax

15.3% for SS/Medicare

6% MO income tax


I'm sure there is tons more of it too, it's just fucking nuts

yeah, think of the poor who simply can't swallow their pride and take a job for less than they were in 07. Or the little old lady who just loves her "free money" that comes in the mail

yup yup, I'm hoping my tax lady can work miracles. There's also been a lot of talk about MO eliminating the personal income tax so that'd be a massive boost

To be replaced by a massive sales/property tax increase.

Start moving your income off the books. There should be a mass organized movement to stop paying taxes at the same time, so the IRS cant do much.

although the alternative isn't great, I'd much rather deal with a salestax (consumption as opposed to earnings) and a property tax increase since I work on the internet and my sales are not taxed.
