[MUST WATCH] ".. it's either now or never .." -Lindsey Williams

I've paused the video for a moment because I wanted to first see if there really is such a huge deposit of oil and natural gas in Alaska. It will take me a very long time to watch this if I keep pausing to try and confirm what he's saying!!

Anyway, I found this U.S. Geological Survey:

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) recently completed a new assessment of undiscovered oil and gas resources of the central part of the Alaska North Slope and the adjacent offshore area. Using a geology-based assessment methodology, the USGS estimates that there are undiscovered, technically recoverable mean resources of 4.0 billion barrels of oil, 37.5 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, and 478 million barrels of natural gas liquids.

I've just watched this to the end. He takes a while to make his point but it's like seeing a major puzzle piece fall into place. If what he's saying is true then much of what is going on makes sense.

And if it's true then it leaves the viewer wondering about the 'price' of all those who have died in Iraq.

Keep bumping this thing.

I'm not sure what to make of this video. One thing he points out that got my mind going is the fact that all currencies are pretty much worthless, oil is the commodity that keeps the world turning. Whichever currency oil producers decide to accept for the oil is vital.

This is something that I recently realized, tell me what you think (I'm a geek, so bear with me):

As a thought experiment: If one imagines the teleportation beam in StarTrek were to be invented, what would it reveal about the world? Imagine how it might work. 1. matter is scanned and "energized". 2. it is transmitted as energy "data". 3. it is reconstituted at another location.

Step 2 is manipulable. It could be reprogrammed, could it not? How about changing it to something else? How about a technological philosopher's stone transmitting and transmuting lead into gold?

This is just a modernized thought experiment to illustrate and support the above point that "money" is not the issue. It's the source of life: energy itself that is important. Now, a solid standard, or asset-based currency is just fine (given that StarTrek doesn't come to pass), in fact it's the one thing that can shore up our currency. But really, it is oil and energy that make our high population numbers possible and life in this world go 'round. Given an oil flood and a corresponding lack of foreign debt-purchasing, a hard currency is the only thing that could help.

It should be obvious that it is only energy that can sustain life, and that economics in the form of monetary exchange is just a means to an end of production of energy and life-sustaining products.

Now watch there be a lot more efforts at "alternative" energy forms like ethanol: useless, but sound good politically. Direct energy is not the only issue anyway, as nearly every product you consume, and every service you purchase is involved with the oil and natural gas industry in the production phases.

This is a very interesting video... he seems to have a decent grasp on the economics in any case. Anecdotes are anecdotes, but he's got a good story.

This is worth watching just for the bit at the 1:11 mark where he talks about the fate of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. It puts it all into perspective.

This is asinine. It's not true.

Along the same lines as the video...

Iranian Oil Bourse (IOB) and what it may mean for us and Iran.

http://www.energybulletin.net/12125.html

This is from 2006, but Iran just officially began refusing dollars as payment for their oil on 8 December (or thereabouts), while the Straits of Hormuz and USS Hopper incident occurred on 6 January.

The new IOB date is set for early February of this year. This smells real to me. I believe Dr. Paul specifically responded to and addressed this issue, but I'd have to search for the source again...

I'm seriously considering purchasing gold now... the stars are aligning just WRONG for this economy...
