Musicians for the D.C. March

Hey guys, you are all awesome, and inspiring!!!
This event has the potential to draw in so many people from all walks of life, that have never considered voting, and even more important, who never thought they had a voice about the concerns we all have for our future.

I'm glad you are considering some of the older bands, whose followers are those older people that we need to get the message to.

Has anyone thought of how & where the stages will be set up for the musicians? Are there places for this? I'm not familiar with the DC area, but some of you involved in the guts of this are, right?

Another thought is having musicians and speakers at both ends of the march path, and even along the path. What an awesome opportunity to also take donations for the movement/campaign!

I haven't seen any posting on the above, so thought I would throw it out there for consideration.

Kudos to you all!!!!!

Also as far as celebrities speaking/appearing...

Drew Carey is a libertarian and donated to Ron's campaign.

Also what about Nolan Ryan, the pitching legend!! He campaigned on behalf of Dr. Paul in Texas in the mid-90's!

Love Drew Carey!

I see that libertarianism.com has a list of folks (including musicians) who have expressed a belief in libertarian philosophy, although not necessarily support for Ron Paul. They are...

* Robbie Fulks
* Paul Marshall (Strawberry Alarm Clock)
* Melanie
* Mojo Nixon
* Neil Peart (Rush)
* John Popper (Blues Traveler)
* Jimmie Vaughan
* Johnny Walker (Soledad Bros.)
* Dwight Yoakam
* Joe Young (ANTiSEEN)

I think we're straying off topic here. Overall, it's going to deter us from the true message. While it's great to have fun listening to awesome bands play all day. Who's going to want to leave a Willie Nelson concert to go march up to the White House? I think there should be a couple low-key bands that heavily support Dr. Paul there so this march doesn't become a hippie-beer drinking fest.

Has anyone considered Nine Inch Nails(Trent Reznor)? I know I know... the man that wrote that song in 1994 that said 'I wanna fuck you like an animal'. I used to be a really big fan of his, but I just discovered the Beatles a few months ago... hahaha..

I do realize some of his work is really, err, dark, aggressive, loud and electronic.

His last album, 'Year Zero' had a very Revolution type theme to it. It was also released around the time Ron started to run.

WIKI: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_Zero_(album)

"Even though the fictional story begins in January 2007, the timeline of the album and alternate reality game mentions historical events, such as September 11 attacks and the Iraq War. From there, fictional events lead to worldwide chaos, including Bioterrorism attacks, the United States engaging in nuclear war with Iran, and the elimination of American civil liberties at the hands of the fictional government agency The Bureau of Morality. Regardless of being fictional, a columnist of The Hartford Courant commented, "What's scary is that this doesn't seem as far-fetched as it should, given recent revelations about the FBI's abuse of the Patriot Act and the dissent-equals-disloyalty double-speak coming out of Washington in recent years."[27] The "recent revelations" he referred to was the Justice Department's inspector general revealing abuses of the Act by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.[28]"

just an idea....

Soledad Bros. broke up over a year ago. Johnny has a new band, Cut-in-the-hill Gang. I've known Johnny since he was 15. Never talked politics with him. I had no idea he was a Libertarian. I always assumed he leaned left. Just goes to show... never assume.

I can say Joe Young from Antiseen has run for office as Liberatarian before... oh yeah and their band is KICK ASS!!
