The New Republic is set to publish on Friday an damaging expose on Congressman Ron Paul (R), portraying him as a virulent racist and anti-Semite. Appearing on Tucker Carlson's show on MSNBC on Monday evening, TNR reported Jamie Kirchick detailed a litany of allegations against Paul. Kirchick said most of his information came from articles published over the past 20 years in the subscription-based Ron Paul Survival Report newsletter. Kirchick said he will detail a two decade history of newsletter articles filled with "racist, anti-semitic, homophobic invective." Further, Kirchick alleged Paul has openly referred to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as a "gay pedophile" and was once a featured speaker at a Confederate "pro-secessionist conference." In a statement published on Paul's campaign website on Monday evening, Paul wrote that he expects "the attacks and even smears [on me] will increase as we do better."

In the unlikely circumstance that these allegations are true, are we going to condemn Ron?

will these stupid blogs wait for a rebuttal from the campaign before spreading this nonsense

please move this to Bad Media??

nope - we are going to turn our anger into more money for the campaign like we always do :D

I plan to give as much as I possibly can on Jan 21st!

Earl Warren was a virulent racist before he became a Supreme Court Justice. When he joined the SCOTUS, he became a very strong proponent of the Constitution and big thorn in the sides of politicians.

because he has openly refuted these allegations and we KNOW they arent true.

am i the only one who sees the good in this? the ole cliche IS true bad press is better than no press. anyway of getting his name out whether its bad or not is a good thing. the logical sequence goes

media attack----> Dr. Paul refutes the smear----> people become interested and look him up

In the unlikely circumstance these allegations are true, don't you think we would have gotten this 'expose' today rather than AFTER New Hampshire?

Ah yes, The New Republic. The people who brought us Stephen Glass, Scott Thomas Beauchamp, Lee Siegel, and Ruth Shalit. Although these New Republic employees either plagerized or just plain made up news stories, I'm sure we can trust the New Republic now.

I'm going to be 100 percent honest. I fear that this will sink this campaign. Racism is the ultimate taboo subject in America. I can't imagine how Ron will defend a newsletter with his name on it. I find it completely unrealistic to assume that he's never read his own newsletter.

I'm also going to say something that might piss people off. I think that Ron Paul might actually be racist, but I'm okay with that. I met Ron Paul a few months ago. I'm half Asian and very swarthy and dark. Ron was really weird with me when I approached him with my ten year old son, who is actually very fair skinned with blonde hair. I told Ron Paul it was an honor to meet him and that he was changing America and he said, "Okaaaay" and looked away. I was kind of hurt, but I have continued to support him, because I believe in what he stands for and I am perfectly understanding about old people being racist. I don't judge people for their beliefs; I only judge them by their actions. I can accept that some people are racist.

They've already been debunked as untrue the first time they came around and were dismissed.

Now a whole new crop of Americans are paying attention as the primaries are underway, so they are brining it up again to hopefully turn off newbies who make quick judgments beleiving the spin before researching the truth or reading the debunk of that trash.

Ron paul clearly cares about all of us. He never turned a pregnant woman away weather she could pay or not when he was an OBGYN no matter what race she was.

The right to Life and Freedom, equal and invidivudal rights is what Ron Paul is all about at the end of the day.

The rest is just spin.

Remember this everyone, Ron Paul was the ONLY member of Congress who offered to give $100 of his own money, to buy Rosie Parks a medal for her civil rights work.

One of the few names mentioned for a possible VP pick by Paul himself, was a man who he says is one of America's greatest economist,is also an African American.

It's disgusting to me how some ignorant and mean spirited people want to put such an ugly spin on a beautiful human being who often fights alone for ALL of US, against government corruption in Congress.

TUCKER? From MSNBC? I thought that guy was a huge RP supporter. The hell?

Well, he can go to tell like the rest of em' :P
