don't know where they got that data from, but msnbc countdown showed ron paul with 11% and 154 votes(still 0 on politico.com)

would be 5th, but close of course

shows 0 votes for paul for me

I don't know how they're getting their data for the overall totals, but roll over the individual counties. Paul's coming in 3rd or 4th in most of them, usually doing better than the polls (i.e., well into double digits, sometimes above 20%). I even saw one county where he was tied with Romney.

I agree that's something's up with Thompson doing this good. My bet is that he's doing better in the small, rural precincts and those are the ones reporting first. Similarly, I think we'll do better in the more urban (for Iowa) precincts, where all our grassroots get-out-and-be-visible work has been.

Weird how its not giving Paul any votes on the top of the politco page still even though it has him with votes when you scroll over.. the other candidates arent like that.

Do those vote totals represent 1 person 1 vote or is that a winner take all precinct total or what?

Candidate Votes % of votes Delegates won Projected winner
Mike Huckabee 4,220 36% 0 [Republicans]
Mitt Romney 2,762 23% 0
Fred Thompson 1,711 14% 0
John McCain 1,386 12% 0
Ron Paul 1,300 11% 0
Rudy Giuliani 386 3% 0
Duncan Hunter 52 0% 0
15% of precincts reporting

What do these poll numbers really mean though? I mean we complain about them all the time that they're not accurate and then when our candidate gets mentioned, all of a sudden we get excited. We know these things are fixed and unreliable. Shouldn't we just worry about doing really well in the primaries and making it to the White House?
