MSNBC: Paul predicts political revolution (Video from Virginia rally)

we should all start wearing phrygian caps to rallies (hey they are on most statues of liberty and many state seals... even the seal of the senate)

i think it would make quite the statement... it be like the chez shirt for the next generation... "no idea what it means... but i like it"

What causes a political revolution? Often times throughout history, political revolution occurs when falling upon "hard" times.

It's hilarious that people are actually call these times hard. I don't mean to diminish the pain felt by people who are unemployed and/or struggling to get by, but historically we are still WAY better off than the vast majority of people throughout history. I'm beginning to think things will have to get much, much worse before there is a major political revolution.

They will have to get a lot worse, but if they do, it's gonna get ugly. I guess I'd rather convince people times are hard now than let them find out later what the real ugliness will look like.

Oh, I most definitely agree. I wasn't implying that it's hard right now (you can feel it though), but that is why Ron Paul is 'predicting' things right now. Prediction for a future event.

Considering Dr. Paul's track record when it comes to predictions, we should probably listen :)

What an amazing speech! Ron Paul is on fire... and did he actually hint at a third party/independent run right at the end?

"This revolution will not be a Republican monopoly... it will be bipartisan and endorsed by all Americans."

That was a barnburner presentation--second time I've watched it tonight. His delivery skills are getting better, and each time he gives the stump speech he's adding new nuances. I always feel so enobled after I hear him, and it restores my faith that we can turn this very bad situation we're in, around.

Possibly. However, he could have been implying that when things do actually start to get real bad economically, that his revolution will expand drastically.

I heard something a little different--a subtle appeal to Dems ahead of the open VA primary. In a similar vein, he spoke well with Wolf Blitzer in a later interview on how he would hope to appeal to Santorum and Gingrich voters in that primary, on the basis of his message, not as a crass move for political advantage. He didn't compare or contrast that approach with what Santorum did in MI (with the appeal for Dem raiders), but the distinction is clear.

I really like this idea.

From Wikipedia:

The revolutionist protagonists of Robert A. Heinlein's The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress often wear a liberty cap. It is referred to exclusively as such. It becomes a fashion article at one point, and is once placed on a telephone terminal open to the A.I. character "Mike."
