Most Important Tactic in MI

The most important tactic in MI is to restrain Ron Paul’s more…. unique/special supporters. Fair or not, Ron Paul, unlike any other candidate is being judged by his most disturbed followers. 9/11 conspiracy theorists, racists shadow writers, hate mongers, all hurt Ron Paul. The media uses these fringe supporters to paint Ron Paul as a whacko and unelectable. I urge fellow supporters to restrain their personal views and to talk about Ron Paul’s stated positions/platform, which are listed on his official website. :)

The most important tactic in Michigan is to remind Democrats that they can't even vote for Obama or Edwards, and their votes for Hillary won't count because the Democratic Party penalized Michigan all its delegates for moving early.

Republican votes will still count, and there is ONE anti-war Republican they may have heard of.

Both parties are hoping for a reinstatement of those delegates before the national convention, like they did in Delaware.

I think Dr. Paul made it clear in the SC debate, if you care about him some of the fringe supporters need to STFU. A good supporter should be modeling their actions and words after Dr. Paul, not spewing ignorant trash.

Ask yourself "Would Dr. Paul say this, or agree with this?"

If you support Hillary, you don't need to vote. If you support any other Democrat, you don't get to vote. Hillary is the only Democrat on the ballot.

If you're a Democrat, and you were planning to vote for Hillary, Obama, or Edwards, vote for Ron Paul, instead. Hillary is going to win MI, anyway, because she's running unopposed, so a vote for her is a wasted vote. Therefore, all Democrats in MI should vote for Ron Paul.

Dear Michigan grassroots,

I hate to sound pessimistic, however, this "get the Democrats to vote because they don't have one" crap isn't going to work.

First off, it's a party primary, I would assume that means there are OTHER offices being voted upon other than the presidency, like House of Representatives seats. It's quite possible that many primary voters won't want to give up those votes.

Second, the party is being encouraged to vote uncommitted, to ensure if there ARE delegates restored, those delegates will be able to go in and vote, even for Obama and Edwards who are not on the primary ticket.

We have to do more in Michigan than simply hope for a huge Democrat turnout. We need to SELL people on Ron Paul, and you'd think he'd be worth more than GOLD in a place like Michigan! ;-)

Top 3 issues in Michigan:

1 - ECONOMY
2 - ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION
3 - FOREIGN POLICY

The NAFTA ads were obviously playing on the fact that polls show immigration is a hotbed among Michigan voters (definitely among Republicans). It also addresses the economy because NAFTA effects the job market, and so does giving benefits to non-citizen workers.

The HUGE benefit about the Ron Paul platform is that his foreign policy stance also addresses the economy. In fact, most of his platform is so simple because every problem with our country boils down to 2 or 3 major entanglements either with foreign States, or corporate lobbyists.

All in all, you could sway every single voter in Michigan with as simple a platform as saying:

"Ron Paul wants to bring our troops home and break up the entangling alliances accross the world that have left us with a 9 trillion dollar debt and a country which is broke and in disarray. He supports immigration reform, lessening government's role in your life and your pocketbook, protecting your privacy, taking the influence out of the hands of corporate lobbyists and back into your hands, and ultimately, upholding the most important contract in the land: the Consitution. We need a strong president in America -- strong enough to stand up for WE THE PEOPLE and to resist the ever growing temptation to sidestep the checks and balances placed upon the executive office! Please take this flier for more information and come vote for libertarian Republican Ron Paul on the Jan. 15th primary and restore hope for America."

With a short little speech like that, you may even get those Democrats you're all hoping for...

C-ya'll in Michigan this weekend!!!

I don't encourage it as a substitute for what you suggest, just as a supplement. If Ron Paul is an Obama voter's 2nd choice, for instance, he might be persuaded to crossover into the Republican primary, because Obama is unavailable. It shouldn't necessarily be the focus of canvassing efforts, but the word should be spread.

Come on people, get the DEM vote out? Get real!!! Ron Paul is a Republican; he needs to distance himself from the liberals. These tactics only hurt the Paul campaign. If Ron Paul is going to win then he needs conservative voters, not liberal voters.

I am very active in politics, and I took a lot of flack for backing RP over Fred. Again today I was confronted by my fellow Republican friends about the disrespectful action of some RP followers. My message: to all hate mongers, conspiracy theorists, racists, bigots, etc… buy a diary and write all your unique ideas down in ink, vent it out, so when you are at Rallies, posting on forums, or talking to friends about Ron Paul you can speak about his platform, NOT YOUR PLATFORM!

I have to admit, I was glad when the moderators on some of the other forums I visit started banning RP nuts. If we are going to win we need to expunge (or silence) the fringe nut jobs that have crawled out to support Ron Paul. Our candidate is being besmirched by the actions of these loonies. Of course it is not fair, but Ron Paul is being judged by the media and voters by the actions of his worst supporters.

Sorry if this post sounds negative, but it is frustrating to see the movement being destroyed by a few people.

The Michigan Democrats are living in fantasy land if they think the DNC is going to do a public about face and award delegates to Michigan after saying they were stripping the Michigan delegation of any delegates for several months.

Absolutely! We need the conservative voters end of story. I've converted many so far, who voted for Bush in the previous elections.

We do however need the campaign to step it up, and hire professionals.

Finally we need to close down and fire the campaign staff in Michigan that is doing a disservice to the supporters and the campaign.

We have to move this campaign from having fringe support(I have nothing against the fringe; in many ways I am on the fringe) to having mainstream support(i.e. the sheep). What we need to do is target local leaders who are known as being early adopters of new ideas, that way the sheeple will move in our direction. This was part of the problem with the Dean camp in '04; the scream is still resonating off the walls of the chasm between the fringe and the early adopters. It's important that we win over these early adopters; people generally listen to them. I've been practicing this one, and I've at least got my uncle(a city commissioner and lay minister) and his father in law(a former bank vice president) to stop telling me that I'm wasting my vote, and to start listening to what I have to say.

Of course, the other candidates have the mainstream media on their side, and undermining the authenticity of the mainstream WILL NOT WORK in winning these people, as they're too couched in their indifference. Something needs to happen, something big, that the retail media can't afford to ignore, that proves Dr. Paul right. I'm not talking about rising oil and gold prices; the only people who watch those intently are likely already on our side. As much as I hate to say it, the only thing that will wake up large numbers of people at one time is a large national disaster, like an economic collapse or a war with Iran(especially a nuclear one). The way things are going in the economy as well as with Bush's visit to Israel and the associated statements, it looks like one or more of these things may happen.

I don't really see how waiting for the apocalypse is going to help anyone. I rather thought the idea was to stave it off.

John Galt. Ayn's predictions are coming to pass.

Luckily, Ron Paul is an Atlas who didn't go on strike. He worked through the system. But now he has to win. We have to help him win.

Does the RP Revolution need a Ragnar Danneskjold?

Ron Paul is the best candidate for President of the United States in 2008. He has some issues to overcome, (1) Name recognition, (2) Media biases, (3) Newsletter Scandal, but all of these pale in comparison to the issue that may bring him down, which is of course that unlike other candidates Ron Paul is judged by the character of his supporters.

Please people, this campagin is about getting Ron Paul elected, not venting your anger. Below our two important links... what happened with Sean Hannity is a disgrace, and smears Dr. Paul! The hate e-mails need to stop NOW! The hate filled forum posts should stop as well. Turn the anger into positive energy and get out the vote for Dr. Paul...
