RALEIGH, N.C. -

North Carolina Senate Republicans want to make it harder for college students to register to vote on campus.

The senators think that once your child registers to vote, especially if their address is someplace other than your house, they're an adult and you can no longer claim them as a dependent.

The proposal would end tax deductions for parents.

Jay Delancy of the Voter Integrity Project says the legislation is necessary because "college students are easily manipulated" and this would help "protect students from such abuse."

The reason republicans want to make it harder to vote is that statistics show that the higher the turnout, the increase in democratic votes is more than the increase in republican votes. I mean think about it. People who vote republican do so because they are really into what they believe in, so they're going to turn out one way or another jumping through whatever hoops they need to. A democratic voter is more likely to be, as Limbaugh puts it, the low information voter, who is only going to show up if he gets shoved onto a bus to get to the polling booth and vote for democrat X because he "helps the kids and fights the evil corporations that made his neighborhood poor" and might even not realize he needs to bring his ID. Or may not realize that he needs to register to vote x amount of weeks before an election to be able to vote. I'm not saying this is the majority of demcoratic voters, these are just the marginal voters, but in massive numbers they can end up deciding elections.

“We are not saying any laws were broken,” said Jay DeLancy, of the Voter Integrity Project – NC, “but the Buncombe race showed everyone how easily college students can be manipulated like pawns and these bills will protect students from such abuse.”

So ... voters are easily manipulated pawns who need the government to "protect" them from being abused ...

Democracy is full of fail.

Why would libertarians support pre-crime arrest and conviction? There are several threads on this and you could probably search. There was one about 4 years ago where I challenged all the propaganda put out there by MADD and NHTSA. I've done my due diligence regarding it. I'm not about to beat my head against the wall again. The truth is out there. If you want to find it.

Honestly.

FFS people, search is your friend.

DUI and its associated "crackdowns" have been throughly de-constructed and the arguments for them deflated.

that will win elections!

wtf is up with parties turning away voters. isn't their entire purpose of existing to recruit more voters?
