More rebellion against the Real ID act. New Hampshire and Oklahoma have joined Montana and Washington state in passing statutes refuting the ID act's guidelines. "However, these actions could eventually lead to drivers licenses issued in these states to not be accepted as official identification when boarding airplanes or accessing federal buildings. In addition to these four states, members of the Idaho legislature intentionally left out money in the budget to comply with the Act."

You can still board a plane with a passport and just say you don't drive. But here's the real kicker...just heard a few days ago on the news that you don't need a passport to fly to cancun and other islands due to the backup of passports that need processing.

I started to wonder if there are people making a mad dash for their passports to avoid this bullshit i.d. card. Passports last ten years and mine is expired.

My wife just came back from Africa. The problem with the passports is that they are too complicated to make. When we first applied for it they said it would take 6-10 weeks. It took 17 weeks. I microwaved the passport as soon as we got it in the mail. Those bastards.

I was thinking about how those RFIDs could be destroyed or rendered useless. Microwave is one idea I haven't thought of. I was wondering if it being enclosed in a powerful magnet box would render the signal useless.

You can still board a plane with a passport and just say you don't drive.

You don't even have to do that. Any government issued legal ID will work, and a passport is one of them. And actually, you dont even need an ID to board a plane as long as you are willing to submit to an extra intrusive search.

I don't know if this is true or not but I am an audio engineer and I just had to turn down mixing a music festival for 5 days in the British Virgin Islands because I didn't have a passport.

I started to wonder if there are people making a mad dash for their passports to avoid this bullshit i.d. card. Passports last ten years and mine is expired.

If I had the money last year and could've justified the expense I would've gotten my passport prior to the RFID nonsense.

I dunno about microwaving because any plastic could shrivel and you wouldnt want to catch the pages on fire. That might show signs of tampering with an official document which might be illegal.

I still remember when I was stationed in S. Korea and they had a National ID there. When I would take busses sometimes the bus would be stopped and two soldiers with M-16's would board and everyone had to pull out the ID and hold it up to show they had them.

Of course that could never happen here.

Microwaves heat up water and fat. Paper would be fine. For the plastic, it depends on the type.
