MN State GOP Convention Thread

I would move to amend rule 24(h) by striking out the words "or recess". A motion for a brief recess can be beneficial if a situation of significant confusion arises.

Hopefully business is completed by 5:00pm tomorrow (19th) or it won't be completed (rule #30 will automatically adjourn the convention at that time).

Damn. I would have seriously thought we'd do at least as well in MN as we did in ME. Good luck!

Seriously. MN should have been a sweep, but looks like asshole Benton's morale-killing strategy worked even in MN. I am not harboring any hopes for this weekend's conventions.

Says Kurt Bills #'s are looking good FTW so far. Delegate selection is tomorrow.

Can someone confirm this?

During the contentious Rules Committee debate, the Kurt Bills/Ron Paul delegates repeatedly attempted to amend the rules. They lost each of their motions, meaning the Pauligates comprise less than 50% of the delegation.

I actually suspect that they make up significantly less than 50%.

The reason why that’s important is that it’ll impact the U.S. Senate endorsing convention. This puts Bills’ endorsement at risk because he needs a strong start to the endorsement process.

hidden to the point of letting bad rules through?

He said "chair of campaign"... did he mean "chair of convention"?

If the chair of the convention is pro-Paul, then the potentially problematic "at the discretion of the Chair" clauses in the rules will probably not come back to bite us.
