ETA - God damn it, what the hell are they teaching in "journalism school" these days?

The headline from KSTP is misleading.

The Somali Invader "first" was the fact that it was a woman.

The Immigrant Invader "first" was a Mexican named Lesly Verna.

I started to respond, then did my own search, and I see your point. (The last name is Vera, not Verna. I'm not being a spelling Nazi, it just slowed down my search.) So...what I am understanding is Mohammed is a (naturalized) American citizen and Vera is a permanent resident but not a citizen. I'm gathering that from this:

Yeah....I don't agree with that. I think you should have to be a citizen to be in law enforcement. But they didn't ask me.

Fixed, thanks.

And yes, that is correct.

The Somali is a naturalized citizen, the Mexican is a permanent resident, i.e. a "Green Card" holder.

The US routinely sends our citizens to police in other countries. Now we know how it feels. Neither are right.

How does one say "hut-hut-hut!" and "zero-dark-thirty" in Arabic, Tagalog and/or Congolese?

Asking for future reference.

Never mind all that, comrade.

All you need to know, in the languages requested is:

لا تطلق النار على كلبي!

Huwag mong barilin ang aso ko!

Ne tire pas sur mon chien!

Now, back to your labors, comrade.

From the OP:

“I didn’t see anybody that really looked like me, Latina,” Vera said about her drive to become a police officer. “I want to have that face for my people.”

Right..."her" people...not Americans, not her fellow citizens, but her ethnic and racial clan of fellow Mexicans.

And I want to be that somebody, [to] be a role model for girls who look like me.

Same thing from the Somali. She has no interest in being a public servant for all the people. She's simply there as a poster child for "her" people.

So, this is where we are, the "melting pot" and "proposition nation" ideal is officially dead as Julius Caesar.

I demand the same type of representation for my people, unequivocal and unashamed.

I shall immediately

توقف عن المقاومة

huminto sa paglalaban

arrête de résister

Good luck speaking Arabic to a Somali.

I didn't say anything about speaking (in any language) to a Somali (or an Arab, Filipino, etc.).

(But if I did speak Arabic to a Somali cop, I rate my chances are least as good as speaking English to an English-speaking "just doing my job" / "respect muh authoritah" cop, so ... *shrug*)
