I think it does. If the death penalty could ever apply to a case, this would be it. There is video proof of him doing it; he has admitted doing it; the victim is a complete innocent. He offers absolutely no redeeming value and you could never trust him to be reformed. There is no reason for taxpayers to have to pay to imprison him.

I am opposed to the death penalty on libertarian grounds, i.e. best not to give government that power, and that it is not only prone to varying degrees of abuse, it has so often been the wrong person. It is irreversible.

There are rare case where it is blatantly obvious who did it (Richard Alan Davis is my favorite example) and deserve the death penalty, but in practice, the case is usually much more ambiguous and blurry.

The cost of permanent imprisonment of some kind is compelling, especially to fiscal conservatives, but once again, the reality is that taking it all the way through to execution is more expensive than life locked up. Perhaps that could be changed, but don’t hold your breath. No doubt either way, the government makes it as expensive on the taxpayer as possible.

The five-year-old boy named Landen thrown three stories off a balcony at the Mall of America by a 24-year-old convict with multiple priors is reportedly experiencing a “miraculous” recovery.
Though he has broken bones all over his body, including fractures in his face, his pastor Mac Hammond of the Living Word Christian Center who met with his doctors shared good news with his congregation during his Easter service.
“There was zero evidence of brain damage – there wasn’t even swelling,” Hammond said Landen’s doctors told him. “No spinal chord injury, no nerve damage, no internal injuries that were life-threatening — there was some small internal bleeding that had to be addressed.”


Hammond said one of the attending physicians told him, “This is truly a miracle, it’s like he fell off a bicycle rather then off the third floor of the mall.”
