This next money bomb is shaping up to be a complete failure! I suggest it either gets canceled or everyone start promoting the shit out of it. All we are going to get is bad press and turned off supporters that think the revolution is dieing out if we don't raise more than the last one.

You cannot just call this a money bomb unless it is guarenteed to succeed. The way it looks this will just give the media a reason to show that we're failing. I've said this from the beginning.

So it's either get everyone on board and get promoting or cancel it and get everyone on board for a different date!!!! It's that simple folks!!!;)

Based on a poll in another thread, I computed an average pledge size of $70. With about 7,000 signed up, that's about half a million dollars. That's certainly not big, but it's not the smallest money bomb we've had either: 11/11 and 12/31 were much smaller.

I guess I never thought of it like that. I'm just worried that it will be seen as a failure but, maybe not/

I figured this might happen... many RP supporters have maxed their contributions out already, and this money bomb is not being promoted as heavily as ones in the past.

It'll be considered a failure by outsiders if its not at least as big as tea party.

I think this thread is damaging to the efforts. Many people will see it and decide, perhaps, not to money bomb on MLK, but many will NOT see it and still money bomb, and there is going to be an MLK money bomb regardless... but this thread could lower the turnout.

Anyone who maxed out before the new year can contribute a new $2300 again.

This is the initiative we need to push as RP himself publicized it at the SC debate (I think.)

There is no debate. This will be a big fundraising day.

people are not aware of the money bomb. Most of the meet up groups have no idea if the money bomb is taking place on 21st. We were asked to raise $23 million and we need 100,000 supporters with $50 each to raise $5,000,000. so far it's not looking good.

NOT TRUE! Campaign donations are limited to $2300 for primary season and $2300 for general election.

Also, mods need to change the title of this thread please...

I think that's inaccurate. It's $2300 per election cycle, not per year. Whether the primaries constitute one election cycle and the election itself is another, I'm not sure.

I heard it reset with the new year. Can you cite a reference?

Sure - it's confusing because a candidate's donations are tracked by election, while PAC contributions go by calendar year...

http://www.fec.gov/pages/brochures/contriblimits.shtml

To each candidate or candidate committee per election - Individual may give $2,300*

To national party committee per calendar year - $28,500*
To state, district & local party committee per calendar year - $10,000
To any other political committee per calendar year - $5,000

Special Limits (combined limit)
$108,200* overall biennial limit:
$42,700* to all candidates
$65,500* to all PACs and parties

Take into consideration the fact that this Newsletter stuff is their only real negative press on Ron Paul.

A MLK day Money bomb will go a long way to negating the effect of the Newsletter.

Plus Dr. Paul already plugged the MLK Money Bomb on some show, I think it was Larry King.

man what kinda thread is this, seems like many are falling for the media's push to demoralize us...

I refuse to be negative at all anymore with the campaign and media correspondence!

to "many" is a gross overestimate. I estimate that of the 130,000 that gave in Q4 that less than 5,000 maxed. Have 96% of donors not maxed leaves alot of people that still can give.
