Mitt Romney Mitt Romney drops out of Iowa Straw Poll

I'd rather see Bachmann or Romney give Dr. Paul a challenge than Palin et al making him perform a verbal facepalm. These other candidates just seem a bit ditzy in how they address their issues...

I welcome the verbal facepalm. It's catchy this season.

So, at least one of these three threads (not this one) was posted by someone who can't or won't use the search function to see if someone beat him or her to the story. Maybe two--the second one was posted just a couple of minutes after this one. Well, I wish people would, but...

But George knows how to use the search function. Count on it. Because what George has to say is too big and too good to be contained in one measly thread...

Thirty thousand posts. If I had said everything I ever said here three times each, I'd have twice that.

Underpromise and over deliver. He's trying to lower the bar and lower the expectations.
Lowering the bar and lowering standards. Under promise and over deliver.

Good decision by Romney, he's already the frontrunner and would have absolutely nothing to win by participating in the straw poll.

But...this exact statement could have been used for Giuliani in 2007. He was the frontrunner in the polls initially. So he decided to skip the Iowa Straw Poll, and his campaign never recovered from it.

Romney may not have a lot to gain by participating, but he has a lot to lose by not participating.

The Iowa straw poll results did not have any noticeable impact on Giuliani's national poll numbers.
