Mitch McConnell has a Primary challenger

As someone living in Kentucky, I'm pretty excited. Bevin is opposed to the NDAA, bailouts, foreign aid to enemies, and also supports auditing the Fed. The liberty folks here who have gnashed their teeth at McConnell's using his influence to undermine our initiatives (until election year) finally have a serious candidate to support. At worst, we cause McConnell some serious political pain over his misdeeds, and give Rand even more bargaining chips as McC becomes more desperate. At best, we end up with a new senator who is a liberty ally... or possibly even outright excellent.

It would be great to have Massie and Bevin as our KY senators, and Rand as president. Something to shoot for anyhow.

At least you will have more than one option in the Primary.

Jesse Benton said:
There have been a number of people in Matt’s life who approached our campaign for months, desperately trying to prevent Matt from making a serious mistake. They were concerned that he was surrounded by a small, fringe consultant class who stand to make money from self-funded campaign and wouldn’t listen to reason.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Rand is in a tough spot if Bevin is the real deal.

lol! Where was that quote from??

Nice find! I didn't realize that...

Near the beginning of the story. The setup to that quote makes it even worse, in context. Benton is such a tool.

Rand is in a tough spot if Bevin is the real deal.

Someone who claims to be Matt Bevin's brother said:
Matt Bevin is my brother. Personally I am a paleo-conservative/libertarian/anarchist "mutt" . over the years we have had numerous conversations about the state of this country. Although we don't always agree on everything ( he tends to err more on the conservative republican end of the spectrum) we both agree that the country is faced with huge problems - aided and abetted by individuals like Mitch McConell. We also agree that the solution to these problems is limited government not party politics.

It might be a better idea for Rand to ditch the idea of being president and just focus on being a muckraker in the Senate.

Would this fly in KY?

"I've already endorsed Mitch McConnell, and I am not going to change that endorsement. I also support the free exchange and debate of ideas that occurs during a Primary between good and honorable candidates. And of course I will also fully support the GOP Candidate in the General election, whoever that may be."

He can't attack Bevin. I hope Rand takes the high road and tries not to make too many instate appearances with McConnell.

That's a real good answer.Anything else is a minefield.

Rand has a much higher role strategically than taking out a single senator. It will many years and election cycles before we can elect enough liberty congressmen to start winning votes outright. We need the presidency and the wave that comes with it, and Rand should focus on what he needs to do to maximize our chances. I think if you asked Thomas Massie or even Matt Bevin, they'd probably agree. The grassroots should support good candidates and put pressure on from below, while Rand puts it on from above. He's given us issues to use as ammunition (arming Egypt etc.) This race is win-win - the ONLY bad thing that could come of it is if we allow those trying to drive wedges to exploit it against Rand (and we all know they'll try.)

Interviewed by WHAS11, Rand said that he has endorsed McConnell, but Bevin is free to challenge him, though his recommendation is targeting open seats. Not bad for a public statement, is it? ;)
