Missouri Primary

who was on top of the list? lol

I took my ballot and entered the little booth as a lady just finished.

I looked at the top of the list and said out loud "cool beans Gary Johnson is on top of the ballot, Oh! there's Paul!

I'm pretty sure the 5 people checking registration heard me pretty clearly as they smiled when I came out of the booth and put my ballot in and told them to have a good day, thanks again.

I have said this in various threads. The campaign is faring miserably with GOTV. They can't be trusted with a simple task as this. I have stressed that this has got to become a grassroots effort and we must take ownership of this and right the ship before its too late. We must take-over the GOTV with the remaining states and get things coordinated with colleges and boots on the ground and meet-up groups.

Huh!? How is having Collins spam a bunch of threads in the RPFs with a phone number to call if you don't know where your caucus location is not doing an amazing job at GOTV?!

/sarcasm

In all seriousness though, if the campaign didn't even send an email to MO donors/supporters .... heaven help us all tonight

Honestly I am very fearful today. If Santorum performs and wins 2/3 States today, this will get dirty, Gingrich would be practically gone, and Santorum would be in a very good position.

WE MUST WIN MN (well not must) but it is VERY IMPORTANT to pull of a win, and not Santorum win 2/3. The story can't be just Santorum. We MUST BE PART OF IT..

Please please people win MN because Missouri is likely to fall to Santorum.

They could still do it.

Missouri is hard at work preparing to turn out caucus-goers. Our strategy is being implemented even as I type this post. We will win plenty of delegates here.

This is what really counts, keep up the good work :)

another thing, what did these people mean when they said that my ballot and all ballots were going into the 'dead letter' pile? Ive never voted before and have spent much more time researching policy than the actual voting process. Which apparently is next even though I know the basics and was able to know right off that I was being mis-informed.

This is what they meant

February 7, 2012
Missouri (primary) – Counts for Zero delegates

March 17, 2012
Missouri (GOP caucus - Modified) – 52 total delegates (State Convention: 2 June)

What's the point of doing it this way?

I know this is a beauty contest, but early results are coming in and it looks like we're going to get slaughtered with results. I just wish a little effort to get people to polls would give a perception to the public we can win.

so is this just a poll not really counting for anything significant other than to see how many want a certain candidate as the republican candidate?

Yes in essence today is just a fancy state wide straw poll. The Caucus that come later will function just like Iowa et al and will be the start of the actual delegate awarding process. The voting today is purely relevant to perception and news coverage.

As to why they are doing it this way I'm not 100% it doesn't actually make a whole lot of sense to me to use this method :P

Somewhat disappointed by the tally in MO so far. Need to do more, I guess. Or you know, remove Diebold from the equation. I felt sick putting my ballot into a flipping diebold machine. Told my granparents they didnt actually just vote for Paul.

Actually I think this will work to our favor.
The more the Romney/Santorum supporters think they have "won" tonight the more of them that will stay home and watch more fox news rather than participate in the caucus.

For example,
I was recruiting/electioneering at my precinct today and had an interesting conversation with a fox news follower...

He announced that he was going to vote for someone who was "going to ******* beat obama".
I held up my Ron Paul 2012 sign and said "This guy can".
The fox news fan of course stated "No he won't"..."you'll find that out tonight".

Two minutes later he walks out of the polling station muttering that he was at the wrong location.
:)
Bottom line, guys like that are not going to the caucus.

eh, I actually think it's kind of great that Santorum is going to be the story coming out of today's caucses. The only reason he's polling well is because no one has attacked him since the week after Iowa. And those attacks only lasted 2 short weeks.

A surge to the top will necessitate an immediate response from Team Romney ... and just like Gingrinch, the attacks against him will be devastating.

In short, Santorum will be damaged goods come Super Tuesday...

Surprised to see Rick Santorum in 1st place...Missouri is better than that.
