Rand should ignore Mississippi. Nothing to gain for him just pissing off more conservatives to win a state already safely GOP.

The state Republican Party has announced U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Kentucky, is coming to Mississippi on Dec. 8 to help raise money for the party's efforts in state elections next year.

Gov. Phil Bryant, U.S. Sen Roger Wicker and GOP Chairman Joe Nosef, in a press release praised Paul and said they look forward to his Jackson visit. Bryant said Paul "has been a persuasive voice for unifying and expanding the Republican Party ... from Massachusetts to Mississippi."
But Mississippi Tea Party Chairwoman Laura VanOverschelde, upon receipt of the MSGOP's email announcing Paul's visit, had a different response.

"Go stuff it," she emailed the MSGOP in response.

Lott said McDaniel "would have come up here and teamed up with Ted Cruz and been nothing but a troublemaker. We didn't need that.'' Cruz, a senator from Texas and a hero to the tea party, was a driving force behind the October 2013 government shutdown.

Haley Barbour called President Barack Obama’s policies “tar babies” on a post-election conference call for clients of his lobbying firm, two sources familiar with the call told POLITICO.

Where have we seen this before? Cochran-Barbour campaign tactics are now being used to help Democrat Sen. Landrieu in LA.

With her chances of winning slipping away, it appears she hired Thad's campaign team.

PLEASE SHARE.

And yes, it's the same Trent Lott that thinks Obamacare should be saved. The split in our party is growing ever more apparent.

The members of the Senate Conservative Coalition showed support for local and parental control of education by traveling the state tirelessly over the past year to talk about the dangers of Common Core. We fought against it by supporting an amendment to defund it in the Senate earlier this year knowing full well we would lose, which we did 39-11.

The final vote tally is found on the official Senate Document below. There were only 11 votes against Common Core.

This kind of stuff helps Rand. He needs all of the establishment goodwill that he can get. Rand's long term problem is not being insufficiently conservative. People have to realize Rand Paul makes Ronald Reagan look like a Communist. The least of Rand's worries is not being far enough to the right. He would be the farthest right wing nominee the party has ever put forward. He needs to do everything possible to be acceptable to as wide a swath as possible without compromising on issues.

Rand hasn't done anything to loose the tea party label constitution, limited government, free markets...it's been completely co-opt'd and I can't even tell by what now so it's clearly the establishment. Shame how this rift is really taking place :/

It's not clear to me who the tea party lady is mad at. Rand? The Governor? The State Republican Party? Etc.?

Mississippi Tea Party Chairwoman Laura VanOverschelde, upon receipt of the MSGOP's email announcing Paul's visit, had a different response.

"Go stuff it," she emailed the MSGOP in response.

So this is the opinion of one woman, with no context or background at all. Dishonest "journalism" right there.

It's not clear to me who the tea party lady is mad at. Rand? The Governor? The State Republican Party? Etc.?

She is probably mad about the establishment GOP screwing them over on the McDaniel election. You wouldn't know that from the thread title or the dishonest article quoted.

Rand is endorsing Bryant in a contested primary. Bryant has to run 12 months after Cochran cheated McDaniel. Bryant might get some token opposition.

The other statewide races are where the stronger Tea Party candidates might run.

Clearly the comment was directed at the MSGOP.
