Missing the Point on Assassinations

Why did the Vice President call the Tea Party terrorists, and why did Obama not dispute it when confronted in Iowa? Are they now going to target the Tea Party? THAT'S the big picture I think everyone's missing. If this administration can label a US citizen a 'terrorist,' then kill him without due process, a red flag should go up when they call the Tea Party terrorists.

That's not the half of it. Google MIAC Report you domestic terrorist you. Now go turn yourself in before they send the drones.

I argued this exact element on a Tea Party mail list over the weekend and it fell on deaf ears. It saddens me to think I wasted 20 years of my life protecting nothing at all.

I jumped in to a discussion on the assassinations on a local car forum. Needless to say, I was outnumbered 10 to 1.

There was some silly arguments, like plotting against the government renounces your citizenship instantly. And when I showed them all the laws on treason and citizenship, they eventually turned to the imminent threat powers of the President. That's when it got ugly. One guy suggested it and they all swarmed around it and used that as their only argument.

They said that because this person was an imminent threat, Obama has the right as President to protect the nation and take him out immediately. I stood up for the Constitution and ironically, I got called some of the worst names by military people.

They could never address my argument with fact, I was referred to as a liberal, a terrorist lover, a child, a fool, an idiot, a moron, naive, gullible...we'll never get through to some of these people I'm afraid.

Yeah, an "imminent," immediate threat of 6 months.

Totally agree with OP tribute_13.

Without the rule of law our country is finished and we fall back hundreds of years into dictatorships/totalitarianism. The rule of law is the only thing that separates us from the Hitler's, Mao's,
Pinchet's, etc............of the world.

regardless of the outcome, good on you for presenting your case.

Yeah, I threw out Daniel Webster's thoughts and the Caroline Test on imminent threat.

An imminent threat is "instant, overwhelming, and leaving no choice of means, and no moment for deliberation."

And when we are targets, these people, your friends, neighbors, family and fellows, will cheer the state as we're rounded up for a future unknown.

1) You can't just verbally renounce your citizenship, as far as I know. There are procedures for doing it, and saying aloud "hey yo, I renounce my citizenship" does not qualify.

Yes. Try getting out of paying your taxes when you do this. They still come after you as a tax owing citizen.

I found this cool picture on the interwebs.
