I would argue that most of those "benefits" from minimum wage increases are despite the minimum wage. Also, inflation and the boom most likely contrbuted to the growth in jobs and so on and so on.

It's the benefits, but there's ways around that...

It's the MANDATED taxes and entitlements:

Social Security
FICA
Short Term Disability
Long Term Disability

and whatever else goverment at all levels can tax onto small businesses, which
don't have the elaborate accounting practices and corporate assets (ALL) the big boys spin up.
