Minimum Wage Folly

"Congress voted to bailout Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac"

bailout -> bail out

Generally, with words like these, the one with the space is the verb, and the one without the space is the noun. breakup -> break up, sellout -> sell out, etc.

yup, you hit the nail on the head. I argued with a socialist about 2 months ago on the effects of raising the minimum wage and how it was detrimental to everyone--no matter what avenue he chose, he couldn't counter...and eventually, when totally backed into a corner in which he couldn't counter me in the slightest, he simply resorted to the socialistic "greater good for the great number" (or as he said "a balance") mentality....plus, he ignored some evidence that I presented before him.

he argued that "well, Australians are used to paying the higher prices now, so it doesn't matter"...he totally missed the point--the higher prices in goods and services will eat up the wage increase of the "minimum wage" earners...as for the unemployment, he totally side-stepped this by saying he'd have a nation-wide welfare program, free school, free college, and other assistance programs.

The minimum wage is one of the easiest socialist policies to argue against IMHO...yet it's one that is hardly ever addressed.
