Mike Waltz, Trump's NatSec Advisor, Leaking to the Press

Nope and Nope and Nope.
Signal's secure, right? And it securely identifies the people using it, right? I'm sure we'd have no problems allowing registered voters to cast their ballots in elections via Signal. It'd solve all our problems with long wait times at the polls.
If it was secure it would be banned.

The point of the leak is that the Trump Admin is being run in group chats on private servers on insecure software with the purpose of not laving a paper trail.

The entire administration is ignoring basic opsec. This should all have been in person secure room meetings.

This is like running the whole intelligence aparatus on Hillary's e-mail server with known backdoors.

The lesson from the butter emails was to not use insecure hardware and software.

The group chats don't have basic functionality like classification levels, managing member security clearances, and none of it is run on government servers or on secure hand terminals.

Many sources have claimed that it is common practice in DC for all sides to use Signal for chats. Why they use it is a DC question.

And when outsiders are given access, it doesn't matter what tools are being used. A neocon staffer could just as easily "accidently" mail documents outside the govt.

But thanks for parroting the MSM left wing narrative for us. Some people here may not watch Maddow or Morning Joe anymore.

... in violation of the Federal Records Act; which is what they're now being sued about:

Trump officials face records lawsuit over Signal chat
A government watchdog group is suing national security leaders for their use of Signal to discuss military actions, saying the move violated the Federal Records Act (FRA).

The suit from American Oversight, which routinely files public records requests, said the move obstructs their ability to access government documents.

...

Beyond the national security implications, federal employees are required to retain records in accordance with the law.

“This reported disclosure of sensitive military information in a Signal group chat that included a journalist is a five-alarm fire for government accountability and potentially a crime,” Chioma Chukwu, American Oversight’s interim executive director, said in a statement.

“War planning doesn’t belong in emoji-laden disappearing group chats. It belongs in secure facilities designed to safeguard national interests — something any responsible government official should have known. Our lawsuit seeks to ensure these federal records are preserved and recovered. The American people deserve answers and we won’t stop until we get them.”

Announcing we are going to strike our enemies on our media is good war propaganda when our enemies watch it.

Trump sure has an interesting media strategy to get them to report it.

It wasn't war planning. Signal used extensively by prior Biden admin, they didn't get sued. Not subject to federal records act.

Looking at some of the messages, everything seems kind of measured.

Doesn't Bowman Vance actually seem like the good guy?

In that he was expressing some kind of hesitation.

Can someone explain the difference between this and what Hillary did?

Not trolling, I really don't know.

If anyone had leaked Hillary's communications, they wouldn't be alive today...

More seriously, there are differences. This leak was essentially just a chat. And everyone, including Hillary, had used Signal for chats.

The big difference being that Hillary had actual classified documents and messages stored on a server in her bathroom and on unsecured mail services and servers.
