[Mike Johnson is the new Speaker] The Great Speaker Race

He's another Israel lackey, but interestingly he's very "far right" evangelical type, so he's probably a Pastor Hagee CUFI type who only supports Israel because the End Times eschatology they believe requires that Israel be obliterated prior to the second coming. Sounds about right these days, no? It also fits with Ukraine being made into a new homeland (or a return to the original homeland, depending on historical perspective) for displaced Israelis. Johnson says he opposes continued Ukraine funding and since it's no longer in vogue to support sending cash and weapons (which end up God-only-knows-where) to Ukraine, it probably means the Ukraine preparations (displacement and ethnic cleansing, along with basecamp for ID2020 development) are nearing completion.

Yeah, that's the kind of vibe I get from him. Hopefully not too much like Mike Pence. The win here will be if he is a true fiscal hawk, who refuses to be lured into a smoky back room with lobbyists and Democrats, and sell us all out.

Mike Johnson is another hawk.
...

I wouldn't expect any different from anybody right now. AOC could have been elected Speaker, and the first she would do is bring up a "Stand with Israel" bill.

"Elected Democrats... understand full-well that the FBI has been co-opted by the executive branch - they've been co-opted by the Biden administration."

Of course "the FBI has been co-opted by the executive branch" - it's an executive-branch agency, for chirssakes!

This is like complaining about the Praetorian Guard having been "co-opted" by Caesar.

The Democrats do indeed understand this. Why don't the Republicans? [1]

[1] Answer: They do understand it. They understand it perfectly well. Pretending to be upset or outraged about it (such as in their dog-and-pony-show "oversight" productions) is how they butter their bread. (Or, to expand on the Rome analogy, it's how they present "bread and circuses" red meat to the mob their voters.)

Ya know, that quick video displays something about the lefty neckbeard beta types (I have a bit of experience around the type lately) that populate the (unprincipled) socialist movement. Judging by his appearance and attitude, he's all about winning because he's not winning at anything else in his life. I see his frustrations with meager employment, no attention from the ladies, general discontent with ALL aspects of life in others I am acquainted with IRL.

AOC was one of nine democrats to vote against it. (Of course, she isn't the Speaker, so ...)
Thomas Massie was the only Republican to vote against it. (Two others didn't vote.)

Final tally: 412-10-6-5 (YEA-NAY-PRESENT-NV)

Byron Donalds is the only "RINO" on that list. [1]

Until enough of the people who support the Republican party - but who also complain about those others being "RINOs" - finally figure that out, nothing is going to change. They're just going to keep getting screwed over by the real Republicans.

[1] For the reasons explained here and here.

To put it another way: the 15% figure specified by the author of the following tweet posted by AF are the "RINOs" (i.e., Republicans "in name only").

The other 85% are the real Republicans.

It appears to me that dumping McCarthy and electing Johnson is at least a step in the right direction. Johnson isn't my first choice but does seem to be an improvement over typical DC uniparty. The establishment got kicked in the balls with McCarthy and that is a good thing IMO.

Still so far to go to get the GOP to be anything close to conservative...

Interestingly enough, the entire concept of Zionism was created in the 1880s (in Odessa*), and the co-opting of Christianity (dispensationalism) started ~30 years later in the early 1900s. It almost seems that they were intertwined right from the beginning.

*From the inception of the *Ḥibbat Zion movement, Odesa served as its chief center. From here issued the first calls of M.L. *Lilienblum ("The revival of Israel on the land of its ancestors") and L. Pinsker ("Auto-Emancipation") which gave rise to the movement, worked for its unity ("Zerubbavel," 1883), and headed the leadership which was established after the *Kattowitz Conference ("Mazkeret Moshe," 1885–89). The *Benei Moshe society (founded by *Aḥad Ha-Am in 1889), which attempted to organize the intellectuals and activists of the movement, was established in Odesa. Odesa was also chosen as the seat of the settlement committee (the *Odesa Committee, called officially The Society for the Support of Agricultural Workers and Craftsmen in Syria and Palestine)

We'll see how it works out. This process was a huge break from the establishment, swampy backroom dealing that has been so prevalent, where the selection is made by "leadership" and their special interest masters, mostly based on seniority, next in line, and promotion of well vetted (and fully compromised) politicians.
