No, Huck there are two sets of rules at play. One for establishment candidates that are democrat and then another for outsiders like Rand Paul.

Mike Huckabee has a message for Rand Paul after his contentious interview with “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie on Wednesday: batter up.

“I think the questions are fair,” the former Fox News host and Republican presidential contender said on “Fox and Friends” on Thursday morning. “When you’re running for president, all is fair in love and war. This is war. This is the big leagues.”

Huckabee said those bruising interviews with the media are all part of the package that comes with running for president, while conceding that it is sometimes hard to know how much is too far.

“You’re going to have to expect that you’re going to have a lot of fastballs aimed right at your nose, and how you handle them is part of the process, it’s part of the game, if you will,” he said.

Most conservatives are backing Rand on this. And it just reinforces Rand's message that he's the anti-establishment candidate, that the establishment media is out to marginalize him. Most Republicans don't care that he told Guthrie off, or the other female reporter. Rand just showed the conservative base, that the establishment media on both sides of the isle are against him. Masterstroke.
 
If this is the big leagues, does that mean Huckster is not going to be getting into the race?
 
Hucks just mad cuz Randal stole his pro-life thunder and turned into lightning bolts straight out of his arse.
 
Everything is either a war or a game for establishment Republicans. Rand Paul and I think Americans deserve better.

A lot of Americans are probably tired of the media's bullshit and perhaps find it refreshing to see someone punch back at them.

I think Rand saw how they walked all over his father and decided he's not going to have any of it. Any good debater knows when your opponent asks a question with a faulty or loaded premise, you don't answer the question, you attack their question. That's all Rand is doing.

I wish Rand wouldn't apologize like he did yesterday. The American people want journalists to ask tough questions and argue and fight for the truth, but that's not the same thing as asking spin-laden questions. That's not journalism.

This is all absurd double standards. Rand is criticized for talking over, cutting off, and "shooshing" journalists, yet journalists talk over and cut off Rand (and every other politician) all the time. In fact it was the journalist trying to cut off Rand that prompted the "shoosh" moment in the first place.

The media tries to portray this as, "look, we all know these weasly politicians are trying to dodge questions and we're just trying to be good journalists and get at the truth." And it's true that politicians dodge questions, but the enemy of my enemy is not my friend -- the media are not trying to get at the truth, they're trying to spin and distort. There are no good guys here.

Indeed. Anyone that believes that your are to sit there and let a media representative misrepresent you and your positions is a dunderhead.
