Being paranoid, I wonder if this had anything to do with grassroots discussions about putting one on for Ron. And wonder if there should be a members only planning forum or something.

Michele Bachmann's team has made inquiries about ad rates in Iowa, for a buy to potentially start sometime after the July Fourth holiday weekend, multiple sources told POLITICO.

Team Bachmann has looked at time in Cedar Rapids and Des Moines — markets within driving distance of the Ames Straw Poll — and possibly others as well, the sources said.

Her camp has not yet bought time, and the stations have all locked down for the holiday weekend.

I think a members only planning forum is a great idea. Is there any doubt that the other campaigns come here to see what we're planning? I know rand's opponent admitted having people do exactly that.

Yeah, I pmd josh a few weeks back asking how much of a donation he would need to create one, never got a response.

Why are ad inquiries news? Should all campaigns be asking about ads?

All of the candidates with any money are in the Iowa market right now. AdWeek magazine did an article on it last week.

"Even without a media consultant, Pawlenty became the first candidate to put TV ads up in Iowa, launching a $50,000 statewide buy in late June."

Pawlenty, yes, but no one else, and that was considered early. This came out right after we discussed it, with a candidate who is stealing wholesale from Rand (teaparty caucus) and Ron ("You have the right to your life, you have the right to your liberties, and you have the right to the fruit of your labors" -- not to mention her entire economic platform, as a squishy version of his). Yes, there are only so many decisions candidates make, and this is one of them. But we also have considerable history of having ideas from here stolen. Whether or not this is an example of it, I think a rationally screened forum would be a good idea.
