He should have invited Ron Paul on if he wanted to debate Ron Pauls ideas.

Of course he doesn't want to debate ideas, that is not the purpose of this hour. The purpose is the same as when O'Reilly or Beck or Hannity discuss Paul, the purpose of marginalizing the candidate by attacking his supporters. It is much easier than actually debating the politician on the issues, and more effective at causing argument and dissent amongst the ranks.
