The initial failure in your bashful proposal is that there is a lot of gang violence and it happens that many of these gangs are from south of the united states border. You are looking at the effects and calling them the causes. Some illegal immigrants are hard working people who support their family and come here for more oppurtunity.

For example, during the era of prohibition a lot of the mobsters were italian, irish, and in general foreigners. Should we have deported many illegal immigrants that were staying in this country. Many, or most might have been legal ,but why does an immoral institution like government need to give approval for groups of people to move in here?

I agree with you about not giving them free public goods(I am for the abolishment of most of them), but they(illegals) are all not the problem. Legalize the illegal secretive businesses that they perform and watch the violence and corruption fade away into the past.

On a side note, there are many american gangs. Where I am from, unfortunatley has many of them and I can assure you that they are not all illegal immigrants. Those expensive and heavy government programs, I am against. Immigration is a wonderful thing, actually a great thing. Bureaucracy is evil and corrupts the very great things of life.

I am seriously considering becoming an illegal immigrant to Costa Rica. But, I don't know, their immigration requirements are not very hard to comply with and by doing so I would become eligble for free health care. Still trying to decide if I want to do the paperwork or not. Might want to go back home someday. I would think that any money that I may earn there would be mine to send back to the US if I choose to. Haven't heard anything about them wanting to build a fence.
On another note, I wonder how much Haliburton saves in taxes by moving its headquarters to the Bahamas. Bet it is more than all the welfare the illegals here recieve. Those defense contracts are mighty sweet, especially when you are not even based in America anymore. Wonder how many other defense contractors have had the same idea.
If its getting fleeced by illegals that is bothering everyone, they don't amount to a tick on a hippo's ass. Your politicians and super corporations might deserve more of your attention.

Maybe the difference is that Hali and others are out of sight, therefore, out of mind. Our Illegals are all around us (here, anyway). Possibly, we feel as if we are not deeply out of control of our own lives when we speak up/speak out about abuse of the borders and freebies.

Was it Eeyor (sp?) in Winnie the Pooh who said, "Nobody ever listens to me"? Who is going to heed our protests about the military-industrial monster? No one, if only a few of us object, but everyone, if all of us do. :)

I live near the border, and can see the reality of the situation and take a look at it myself. I don't have to sort through reams of data to wax philosophical about it With that understanding, we can take the issue apart and deal with it in a libertarian way. :)

Who on this thread is giving our Illegals assistance from the public coffers? It seems that only a few are willing to give handouts. If social workers, etc., want to keep their jobs, they may NOT discriminate; they may NOT ask whether someone is here legally, or is a citizen. They must hand over goodies to those who ask, and who qualify with children, low income, pregnancy. . . .

I have made my wee voice heard on federal (White House and Congressional) levels; I have spoken out in various forms on the state and local levels. Am I alone in my activism?

I would just "luv" for everyone to come to the US & be comfy. Our own taxpaying, almost lifelong-contributing, now disabled. elderly ought to be first before the strong, healthy, young, beautiful &/or handsome Illegals. When I ask for help for my parents who are in their 90's, I am told, "They fall through the cracks," and "Why doan chew putt 'em in a nursing home?" (Because here, the homes are bad.)

The already distressed gov't would probably be sued if Illegals did not get what ought to be going to our elderly, responsible, hardworking citizens. instead.

I agree: How deep the rabbit hole goes.

Daily, I become more and more ashamed to be American. :(

You can give illegals, children assistance, but the total cost, plus all additional S&H / Processing costs / are handed to the country of origin or the World Bank IMF. which pays all bills back to the state... the hospitals and schools can then charge it up!

You got to give the United Nations and Council of Foreign Relations some credit... no two other groups I can think of would ever be capable of forcing a black guy (who isn't even eligible to be President of the United States), due to his African birthright.... down our throats, and make us feel all warm and cozy as they steal every last dime we have.

We are going to lose it, unless we come together and fight for what we have remaining. Billions to the bankers.... the debt to you and I and worse; to our children.... when will we say we have had enough?

The brighter stars shine on this forum, but we must do much more to educate the CNN and MSNBC poisoned peeps who have no clue.

Campaign to educate....Must be our goal to educate one person a day that we come in contact with.
 
Had a Mexican guy come to my home today wanting to rake, and clean out flower beds, clean roof etc. for $250(heck id do it for 250!). We have a lot of illegals here, but this makes me wonder if they are otherwise out of a job elsewhere so they are coming into the neighborhoods to find work instead.
