Dr Paul has explicity stated that there will be no 3rd party run:

Whoa! What a year this has been. And what achievements we have had. If I may quote Trotsky, of all people, this Revolution is permanent. It will not end at the Republican convention. It will not end in November. It will not end until we have won the great battle on which we have embarked. Not because of me, but because of you. Millions of Americans — and friends in many other countries — have dedicated themselves to the principles of liberty: to free enterprise, limited government, sound money, no income tax, and peace. We will not falter so long as there is one restriction on our persons, our property, our civil liberties. How much I owe you. I can never possibly repay your generous donations, hard work, whole-hearted dedication and love of freedom. How blessed I am to be associated with you. Carol, of course, sends her love as well.

Let me tell you my thoughts. With Romney gone, the chances of a brokered convention are nearly zero. But that does not affect my determination to fight on, in every caucus and primary remaining, and at the convention for our ideas, with just as many delegates as I can get. But with so many primaries and caucuses now over, we do not now need so big a national campaign staff, and so I am making it leaner and tighter. Of course, I am committed to fighting for our ideas within the Republican party, so there will be no third party run. I do not denigrate third parties — just the opposite, and I have long worked to remove the ballot-access restrictions on them. But I am a Republican, and I will remain a Republican.

I also have another priority. I have constituents in my home district that I must serve. I cannot and will not let them down. And I have another battle I must face here as well. If I were to lose the primary for my congressional seat, all our opponents would react with glee, and pretend it was a rejection of our ideas. I cannot and will not let that happen.

In the presidential race and the congressional race, I need your support, as always. And I have plans to continue fighting for our ideas in politics and education that I will share with you when I can, for I will need you at my side. In the meantime, onward and upward! The neocons, the warmongers, the socialists, the advocates of inflation will be hearing much from you and me.

Sincerely,

Ron

Is Dr. Paul dropping out?

Technically no. But at this point his chances of winning the nomination are pretty much zero, and he isn't going to run 3rd party.

At least he's going to stay in up to the convention so he can try to have as much influence over it as possible.

Buy the book when it comes out. I'm sure Dr Paul is going to be giving us the battle plan of how to take the country back. And he will still be in congress to keep fighting. Only he will now have a million supporters behind him this time. Overall, progress has been made.

If he could get on all the ballots, I would support him running as an independent. A third party would get him on there and legitimately give him a chance to win depending on candidates. However, it would undermine the revolution within the republican party, so I understand his unwillingness to do it.

I feel so drained. I was hoping he was going to announce a 3rd party run.

Nah, he isn't dropping out. He is going to stay in as long as he can. He is reducing his campaign, as our moment is increasing, but he is admiting a slim chance of a brokered convention. He has shown us the way to take over the GOP for future generations. He also mentions that he has additional plans but will need us to stand with him when those plans are revealed.

I'll throw my two cents in.

There is always hope. There is always a possibility we could still win, though the odds are obvious. Nevertheless, unexpected things can happen. Look at Obama's senate seat win.

But, being that the odds are against us we have to look at the long term big picture. Long term, Paul is better off remaining a Republican. That is the best strategy to get other like minded freedom-loving individuals into Congress and to take this nation back. As Ron said, he is a Republican and he is staying a Republican.

Dr. Pal is merely stating what we have known all along. The battle we are currently involved in is but one of many. Our struggle is not just about this campaign, it is about the future of both mankind and our country. Our country has begun spiraling towards a fascist form of goverment not much different then pre-wwII Germany. IT is up to us to correct the mistakes of our fellow countrymen and to enlighten them on the great sins of which they are comminitng. Do not lose hope. This campaign does not mark the end of our struggles, but merely a new beginning. Through our efforts, hundreds of thousands of American citizens have already woken up to the reality that now faces them. It is up to us now to continue our march against the current tyrants that be and fix our country before it is too late. I am glad to have met everyone here and to be a part of something that will forever change this country.
As for me personally, this campaign has made me decide to enter congressional politics and study up on both fiscal and foreign policies. It is my intent that I can contribute what I can to fix the current state of our country. Although I will not be able to do it alone, I know that I can always count on someone to support my back.

Remember, Ron Paul has admitted that he was the most doubtful about his campaign from the beginning. Let's prove to him what possibilities actually exist. With Romney gone, Ron Paul will now be surprised at how much support gets thrown his way.

i'm glad to hear about your political aspirations.

Nevertheless, unexpected things can happen. Look at Obama's senate seat win.

That was hardly unexpected. He was a Democrat in a Democrat state running against periennal presidential candidate Alan Keyes....an outsider who had just moved to IL 30 days before for the sole purpose of running against Obama. Obama got something like a record 90% of the vote.

But sometimes miracles do happen, I'll still have a small ray of hope for Dr. Paul until after the convention.

Its been great guys. Take Care everyone. Good Bye for now.

Nice fair weather friend attitude.

At least some of us are in this for the long haul.. Some of us are stepping up and running for office and such. Whether he wins or not, without like-minded people in congress and senate -- and state/city level government there's only so much that could be done anyway.

We are truly lucky to have such a wonderful guy going the distance, he has already changed this race, and all the other candidates know it as well as the media. I will follow Ron Paul all the way, just do not ask me to vote for any other candidate in this race, they cannot hold a candle to Ron Paul. A vote is ours to keep. And a personal thank you RON PAUL for being the SOLE sponsor of the 2007 Parent Informed Consent Act. School these candidates! GO RON GO!

"With Romney gone, the chances of a brokered convention are nearly zero." :(

Not true, IMO. Huckabee's gonna split it now, as was getting apparent in the southern states. Besides, as with every single election, the GOP nominee is not decided until the convention. Period. Until the delegates cast their votes, it's not final. Period.

McCain's still got a TON of work to do to shore up the win. And we ain't gonna make it easy for him, now are we rEVOLution-istas? :D

This is smart on Paul's part. The country really may not be ready for a Paul presidency. I want him to continue to fight for the rest of the supporters who are still coming up to cast their votes, but with the MSM against you, arrogant or ignorant GOP voters believing we can be the best thing to happen to Iraq in the last 20 years if we stay and fight, and a general refusal to do anything other than argue over party territory, it seems bleak for an RP win.

But many of us have been awakened to what is happening. We need to start changing the political infrastructure. Supporting Ron Paul's congressional campaign is a smart move for anyone who is uncertain about where to put their liberty-driven energies now. There are also some great candidates seeking office around the nation that are going to need a ground swell of support to help them win primaries and finally congressional elections. Also, Murray Sabrin has been endorsed by Ron Paul for his Senate run in New Jersey. What if there was a Ron Paul in the Senate? That could be huge.

Let's help make it happen!

That's very true. But Ron Paul also needs to win 5 states to be a part of any brokered convention. Seeing as our biggest hopes for wins (NH, LA, ME, AK, ND, MT) came up short, we need to accept the possibilities that we may not win this thing. I know WA, OR, VA, OH, VT and TX are still coming up, but we'll just have to see how we do. If those individuals in those states will keep the fight until their primaries, we could turn this thing around. We'll just have to see.
