Mensa Members

Former member from a long time ago. Basically a waste of time. If you want to do something productive with your IQ get involved with the world, not Mensa.

My wife also qualified but wasn't really interested in joining the group. She's quite happy just raising our son. :)

~X~

I scored in the 98th percentile on an IQ test back in 2nd grade or so.

I remember it because after the test my teacher took great interest in me one day and had me color in different test scores up to 98% on bar graphs
like she was trying to get me to notice what I scored.

I ordered the Mensa home screening years ago, though I never sent it back in. It was fairly simple, so I didn't really worry about having it scored.
I did pay $20 for it, so I suppose I should at least send it back in sometime.

I've been meaning to take the proctored exam eventually. I'm always short on either time or money to do it.

I did become a member of a fairly new, very vibrant online IQ related community. It's a bit like Mensa for the 21st century.

Ya they are cool, but I have found too much variance in their tests. I took their basic test (too basic, I think I got almost all of them right) and it gave me IQ = X. Then I took their harder (think crazy hard) test and it gave me X minus 24. That is huge difference.

IQ means little.

Now find me some folks who've studied Austrian economics and history for a few years and there are some people who know what's going on in the world.

I have no idea. I know nothing about testing criteria.

Maybe it was because of the percentile the tests are relational to?

It's been a few years for me now since I took it, but the "basic" test is, as I remember, scoring for a population in the 95 percentile,
while the more difficult test is scoring for a much narrower population in the, I think, 99 percentile.

That's a pretty big difference in IQ - 95 verses 99 percentile, which may account for the variance in your results.

I'm too dumb to be in menses, but my wife is smarter, depending on when she's examined.

Im not self absorbed, Im self reliant, Im self sufficient, Im Im, oh right. Wait Im not even mensa. I took their test, they tried to have me whacked. :D

Can we have a "people that could qualify for Mensa, but don't need to pay dues for intellectual validation and social networks" for Paul group?

Great minds think alike! I just bought that domain name!!

You guys who like math or like making fun of it, please check these out. Wrap your brain around this stuff if you dare.

Make sure when watching your video to remember the right hand rule when determining the direction of flow of the magnetic field lines in the wire.

your thumb is the direction of the electrical current and your fingers are the direction of the B field (magnetic field). Electromagnetic theory.

I am an Electrical Engineer turn lawyer so I follow what the guy is saying for the most part. But I have a hard time believing the results.

There is conservation of energy and mass laws that this would violate if true.

Well, I'm neither a math guy nor an electrician, but hang in there, keep watching the series. You will be AMAZED at the things he's found.

The dude definitely does NOT need to be wearing a tank top.

LOL, I know. This took place fifteen years ago, though, believe it or not. Note his shorts.

Anyway, just keep going. He has made math seem majestic to me, and that is one intellectual category I tend to avoid.

This man is weird

Hey now, yeah, he's a furry Hawaiian who holds a religious view that I don't.:p But the math he's working with is fucking incredible. It's everywhere. Try not to discount the videos because of his appearance.

I was accepted, but never really joined. Mostly just wanted to see if I could, so I took their tests etc. I personally can't think of too many things that seem more self absorbed and boring. Took me a few attempts.
