Medicare blackmailing hospitals and the healthcare system?

I was sitting in a staff meeting the other day and my boss said the government, some official in the Dept. of health and human services wants medicare funded hospitals to approach a zero declination vaccine rate in hospitals. Meaning we offer all patients over a certain age the pneumonia and flu vaccines if they meet certain criteria. Well depending on our vaccination rates for the elderly the government has threatened to withhold $20 million dollars in funding or reimbursement. This is basically forcing vaccines on the public let alone black mailing a private business is it not? How the hell do they get away with this crap. I'm so sick of working in healthcare. It seems like EVERY industry is at the mercy of government these days. Is there any industry that tells the US government to f'k off and gets away with it?

There are so many "initiatives" that the federal government hit hospitals with. If the hospital does not comply, the feds threat cutting medicare/medicaid dollars. This is HUGE since the main reimbursement money is from government programs. Just another reason to GET THE GODDAMNED GOVERNMENT out of the free market.
