Media silence on Michigan tomorrow........ good for us?

Hey, WE ARE (in these forums) not talking about michigan 1/1000th as much as we talked about ia or nh

Bring handouts that compare the candidates to Ron Paul. Those are powerful.

A lot of Democrats are going to show up and wonder why the heck Obama and Edwards aren't on the ballot.

Make sure you tell them the Democratic votes don't count, BEFORE they pick up their ballots.

The media here in Michigan have been misinforming people and telling Obama and Edwards supporters to vote uncommitted so that Michigan gets more delegates at the convention. I just heard this stated on one of the ABC stations here.

Does anyone have a link to a news article that could be printed out to prove to people that their vote in the Democratic primary is wasted. It may be difficult to convince people to vote Republican with what the local media have been telling them.

Kucinich is the only Democrat campaigning. Ron Paul gets no mention at all but Romney, McCain, and Huckabee have been mentioned repeatedly as they have stops all over the state.

VIENNA, Va. - Democratic leaders voted Saturday to strip Michigan of all its delegates to the national convention next year as punishment for scheduling an early presidential primary in violation of party rules.

Michigan, with 156 delegates, has scheduled a Jan. 15 primary. Democratic Party rules prohibit states other than Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina from holding nominating contests before Feb. 5.

Florida was hit with a similar penalty in August for scheduling a Jan. 29 primary.

Michigan officials anticipated the action by the Democratic National Committee's rules panel. But Michigan Democratic Chairman Mark Brewer said before the vote that he didn't think the delegates would be lost for good. He expects the Democratic presidential nominee will insist the state's delegates be seated at the convention. {<---- This is the only way they're gonna get any delegates; by then the nominee will have obviously been decided, and Michigan's delegates will be a mere formality}

Michigan Democratic Party Chairman Mark Brewer, left, and committee member Debbie Dingell leave after their case was rejected at the DNC fall meeting, Saturday.
Nevertheless, Saturday's vote further diminishes the significance of Michigan's Democratic primary. All the major Democratic candidates have already agreed not to campaign in either Michigan or Florida because the states violated party rules. And in Michigan, most of the major candidates won't even be on the ballot.

Democratic candidates John Edwards, Barack Obama, Bill Richardson and Joe Biden have withdrawn their names from the ballot to satisfy Iowa and New Hampshire, which were unhappy Michigan was challenging their leadoff status on the primary calendar.

That leaves Hillary Rodham Clinton, Dennis Kucinich, Chris Dodd, Mike Gravel and "uncommitted," as the choices on the Democratic ballot in Michigan.

The Michigan primary has no delegates due to moving the election up too early. The media and candidates are all in collusion and boycotting the Michigan primary as a result.

Hey this is great. Is there a higher rez version for printing around here?

Ditto! This is awesome! I think the good doctor's message has been lost because the issues are diverse, and a random person has no basis for comparison.

Looks like it was done in Excel, any way we can get a copy of it? I will modify all the opposes to show supports and mark the candidates appropriately (To show as if this is a random survey and not a Ron Paul distribution ;)).

oh I want copies of that --it is the best I have seen can some one work on that and I will get copies to my meetup group

Most in MI not know what's going on? Are you kidding? The Detroit meetup group is huge. I am in marquette and we have 20 people that show up religiously to the meetups.

I know a TON of people who know what's going on here in MI. Although I know a lot also don't know about Ron Paul. If anything, I'd say it doesn't work in RP's favor in MI, I have been seeing Mitt Romney's awesome ads during commercials (not awesome because I agree with him, awesome because they are good).

In my mostly uninformed opinion, Michigan is a microcosm of the whole country. And there is one OVERRIDING ISSUE that ONLY RON PAUL understands and addresses:

THE ECONOMY

Since when does Ron Paul oppose the death penalty?

I watched a 1988 interview with him where he says he supports the death penalty, but someone I talked to the other day in the chat room says he has since switched his position on that and has talked about it since. I can't confirm this.

I'm against the death penalty, personally, but its very low on my list of priorities.

He has said that it is the only stance that he has changed (in his political career).

He says the death penalty has been incorrectly applied at the federal level.

Ron Paul On Death Penalty From A Staffer at the Ron Paul HQ !

I called Ron Paul's HQ and the person that answered stated he is for States Rights version of death penalty not the current federal mandated lethal injection style that we have now !!

Since when does Ron Paul oppose the death penalty?
